WS4 headphones vs. WS5

Hi all,
I'm used to complete, over the ear headphones like Gray Ghosts.
I'm curious if some of you have tried both the WS4 and WS5 and which one you like better.
I like the WS4 when it's hot outside as they allow the ears to breathe. Do the WS5's get hot in the Summer?
Do you hear the faint targets a lot better with the WS5's?
My Deus came with the WS4 headphones.

have ws4 and deteknix full phones and yes they are different just from being enclosed my bet is the ws4 and deteknix phones best of both worlds but I use the ws4 back phones 90% of the time..

The ws4 are not very good at blocking out noise i have them but going to get a full cover the ear type for noisy areas

I have this set up as well and now only use the Deteknix full headphones as I think the WS4's are the worst design ever made because after wearing them for 2 hours they pinch the top of my ears. I bought my Deteknix headphones off Andy Sabisch's website. I strongly believe the Deteknix headphones are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn for metal detecting. These headphones are even better than my Gray Ghost NDT's.

My issues are just the opposite. Long term wearing of full coverage headphones , especially when it's hot , have a tendency to aggravate my TMJ syndrome so I use the backphones almost exclusively unless ambient noise level becomes just too high to bear. In fact , I have found the sound and comfort such that I used the FX02 wired headphones from XP on all my other detectors 95% of the time.

If you have the WS4s and a remote than I would opt for the WS4s and Deteknix full phones setup.

I will have to look into the Deteknix. Is there any lag with the signal?

For me its the WS5 option that wins my vote, but when its really hot then surprisingly enough i like wearing the 'wired backphones' for the ultra cheap price that they are from XP the audio quality is really remarkable and also i use them on other brands of detectors as well when its hot as it also comes with the inline volume control and the adaptor so that it can be used on almost all detectors.

I have always used the WS4 in the summer and the WS5 during the winter months.

Its a personal choice, but if I had to say goodbye to either it would be the WS4.

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

Hi, I've never noticed any lag. The price of the headphones vs the WS5's are way cheaper and more comfortable - you will like them!

Alright have had both, still have 2 sets of WS-4s.

Ws4s are the cats meow in hot weather.
In the wind or real, noisy environments they don't do so well.

Ws4s produce high pitch signals vs ws5s, makes ws4s better for hunting in iron pits IMO.

I also have the aftermarket Vance headphones, the puck off of ws4 slides on these.
Tones are very nice,,high sounding like ws4/ provide.
One thing about the Vance headphones, if your head is big, will be tight.
My head small, and I still sprung mine a little.

They work wonderful in the real cold and high wind, and in noisy environments.

I don't recommend ws5s.

Have both the WS4's and Deteknix headphones, the latter of which is one comfortable set of headphones. The WS4's are fine for most areas, though if near road traffic, full muff headphones are a must. I also have a pair or Chefphones for the WS4 puck, though they do not provide the nice crisp audio that the Deteknix has on offer, plus they can be a little uncomfortable on the ears after a few hours.

I got a set of Deteknix at the Deus Bootcamp. They are really nice!
