Dear friends,

I thought some of you might be interested in the following (see attachment below.)

Todd

There are so many variables involved in what they are calling " wrap around " that they are going to need to go beyond their understanding to fully describe the different phenomenons involved in their so called " phenomenon ".

They may be using a single conception to describe too many different sets of circumstances.

Correct me if I'm wrong, But

From the comments in the forum, I feel that they are trying to take a complicated question and equate it to a less than accurate explanation.

In other words. I doubt that they are prepared for the task.

That's not to say that useful information will not be explored in their attempt to do so. Just that they aren't prepared to be totally successful.

It may be interesting to see their comments on this so called " phenomenon ".

Hi David !

Thanks for your views on this. Sorry I haven't been very active on Finds Treasure Forums over the past year, so don't know your credentials as far as technical knowledge on metal detectors. Judging from your statements, I would guess you are educated in electronics and very familiar with the so-called "wrap around" hypothesis.

My reason for posting the information should be obvious, i.e. #1 to make those who are interested aware of Ty Brook's on-going research project, #2 his invitation to anyone who would like to contribute their theories, thoughts or facts and #3 that he expects to have some information to report in the July -September, 2008 W & E Treasures magazine. Initially, I only wanted to make an announcement, but at the time there was no forum set up specifically for members announcements. There is an Announcements forum on the Special Events forum board, but that one is for site Administrator use only, so the site Support Team suggested I use this "Metal Detecting Forum" as a temporary measure. Support said they are going to be adding a "Tech Board" and I assume this will be the appropriate forum in the future.

Regards,

Todd

Thanks for the information Todd.

Sounds very interesting to me.

In a way I am a newbie. But in another way I'm a retired pro.

I'll explain.

My Technatics broke 24 years ago. Got married had kids. Did not get another treasure hunting MD until five months ago.

But I was not idle in that 24 years. I'm a retired/disabled land surveyor. When I first started over 30 years ago I located metal property corners with two magnets suspended in wooden boxes. When they were drawn to a target, you intersected the lines of attraction and you dug.

I have used everything from PI machines to VLF discriminators, to supper deep ferrous metal detectors, two box and so on.

I have located most every manor of under ground utility appurtenances incurred in Engineering and Surveying in this state.

I have worked with the largest construction company in the world at that time.

So I am not an expert on " rap around ". But I have contended with it from time to time.

I now enjoy learning what I can about this wonderful hobby.

I find it incorporates the things I liked most about surveying.

The thrill of the find. Uncovering history, both on the ground and on paper.

HH,

tabdog.........Wow ! You've really "Been there, done that" !

Thanks for sharing your background ; that adds a LOT of backbone to your previous statements !

Regards,

Todd :)
