4 inches towards the bowels of the earth, VDI 80 and stamped 14 k, found 66 cents:thumbup: too!........
Man I hope that rock is real :jump:

Guess who's batteries are on charge......

Until we meet again,

Nice ring !
Different gold color.

Joel

It is a weird color, like those old 1800's looking gold rings

Dug if for a penny......, I remember putting the Garrett Pro-Pointer on the ground and it vibrating and humming like a rattlesnake in heat  and digging, where's my penny? about 4 inces down I touched it and thought  screw on bottle cap , then out popped this monster, very, very heavy. Wife saw it and said "its junk", I said its real or it's made out of lead, she put it in her magic jewelery sauce and we were able to make out the Jewelery store name:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: and the 14 k popped out, started to get excited about then.

HH aka Heavy Heavy

Sweet, I have come to the conclusion that the first 10" of earth is literally littered with metal.
Just swing :)

I would think that gold stays gold if its pure. Like a gold nugget found in a stream? Maybe I am wrong. Still a very nice find. I have a gold tester on its way myself. I like to know what I find right away lol. Plated gold can fool a guy. I also keep a diamond tester at home. Gotta be prepared for a big find lol

Blackie done good. The ring looks like it maybe gold plated.

Got Blackies ring cleaned up  and she's 100% 14 K, from all indications so far the $tone is too........

My guess is that somebody had "sealed" the ring with some sort of lacquer, it (lacquer coating) in turn, had taken on the indigenous red coloration in our clay soil, and that the pitted reddish appearance was in the lacquer. Here is what Blackie's ring l@@ks like after a few hours of Quarterhorse "love". :yikes: :clapping:

How long was it in the ground....research shows that the Jeweler started in business in 1924, how long does it take a honker gold ring to sink 4 inches? How long would it take to stain the coating and pit it?

When I get confirmation on the rock, and a weight I'll update.

Ain't she purty now :beers:

I made the suggestion to the Quarter Filly that I could have it put in a setting for her, she said no way, she didn't want to get knocked in the head over it.......lol

The ring weighs .41 troy oz, or 12.9 grams, which ever is the most...... I have just got back from a friend who had the right stuff (jewelers rouge and wheel) and he put some more polish on it , so its really shines now!

FANTASTIC! :beers:

Wow, what a differance sure is looking purty now. A stone that size is on my wish list, attached to a ring of coarse.

congrats and HH, Epi

A beauty :clapping:1
That's more like it

 Cubic Zirconia..........

The ring is 14 kt, why somebody would put a CZ in 12 grams of 14 K I don't know

Chit Happens..........LOL

Are you sure it's 14 K?? I have found rings stamped 14 and turn out to be junk. Just a thought

Joe we acid tested it last night, its the real deal. should be about 12 grams of 14 K with the stone out, the ring total is 12.9 grams.
 BUT I did have $428.00 dollars worth of chain at spot, marked 14 K that apparently isn't gold at all........ The 14 K test "smoked it" literally, and the streak totally disappeared in a whiff of smoke, the 10 K test floated the streak........I dunno maybe the clasp is 14 K...... that's where the mark is.
