WOW thats about the only word that comes to mind. I have been wanting to try a Minelab for some time now I've been back and forth between the Sov GT and the Quattro. Well I finally settled on the Quattro, just seemed to fit my needs a bit more. Met up with my local dealer Sunday eve. Upstate Detectors, whom by the way was kind enough to open his shop after hours on a Sunday. Thanks Carl. Well I left with a brand new Quattro and an sick feeling in my stomach wondering if I did the right thing. I'm not new to detecting, been running another brand for years with a good bit of success. Very new to Minelab until that night I had never even heard what there signals sounded like. I couldnt wait until the end of the day today was praying it wouldnt rain so I could take it to one of my favorite (pounded to death sites.) I wasnt expecting much just wanted to fire it up and hear what it sounded like, and maybe get lucky and score some clad change. I did what the directions said just hunted in coin mode nothing special. After the very loud raspy sounds of my previous machine ( not knocking it because it was and is still a good machine just sounds very different.) I was pleased to hear the smooth responses and sounds of the Quattro. I dug a bunch of different targets nothing great was basically practicing how to pinpoint with this machine. I wandered to an area where I had found silver coins and indian head pennies in the past. No sooner did I sweep my coil in this area I've pounded every way possible in the past, I heard a faint high pitched repeatable sound I didnt expect there to be anything left in this area but I started to dig anyway. Much to my surprise at at least 8+ inches out pops a wheatie penny I thought huh beginners luck a few feet more out pops another one and then a couple more I couldnt believe it. I was pretty much out of time and had to get home so I started back to my truck and again a couple feet away I heard another nice high pitched repeatable sound this one was different it was higher than the rest I thought maybe I was falsing on some deep iron but i dug anyway and to my delight out comes a real nice 1915 barber dime I couldnt believe it, again it must have been at least 8-9 inches. Well I decided to call it quits at that hole. It looks like I'll have to invest in a bigger digging tool. WOW WHAT A MACHINE.
