Picked my friend up early this morning and hit a a couple of houses that where new to us.
The first house looked OK but, after a Lil while all we where getting was wheat's but, we did notice the yard next to it.
It was a much older house sitting there on a much much bigger lot with big trees.
It really got our attention as looked very promising.
We decided to try to get permission there and after a discussion the owner said have at it.
He was very history oriented and loved talking about history as much as me.
He brought out pictures from the home in 1837 and maps etc.
Which was very helpful to deciding the area we wanted to hunt first.
That gave me great hope with some great info so, off we went a looking.
My very first dig was a wheat then my next dig was a 43 Wash. Things where looking good I thought.
My friend by this time already had some wheat's and a Chinese Coin so, now we where both getting pumped about this yard.
I had seen the pictures of what the property had looked like in the horse and buggy days so I set off between the wrap around (no longer there dirt drive) and the house.
With in about fifteen minutes I got the great sound of a deep silver that skipped all across the top and down a tad.
When I dug the coin I could see it was a silver dime but, first guessed it to be a Barber from what little I could see of the rev, in the clod of dirt (as pictured.). Upon opening it up above my dig I was a happy man it was a Seated Dime.

Well, within another 5 feet I had another silver hit but, it was a pegged high right. I first thought probably another Wash Qr but, was not sure upon digging it and not being able to tell from it being buried deep in the clod (as pictured).

I took it over to my friend and we sat on the porch with the owner so, I could get a decent picture then opened it up and what a surprise it was a Standing Liberty.
I dug some more wheat's when I saw my buddy sitting on the ground working deep into a hole.
I went over and to see what he was working on and he pulled out a 2 Cent Piece and this was a deep coin at about 9"
Here my buddies holding his 2 Cent Piece as dug.

With in about another half hour I got a nice Indian hit and pulled out a nice 186? something as I could not see the last date at the time.
Here is a picture of the Indian as dug.

We had a blast today and found some really exciting finds in great shape luckily.
In all I dug a 1883 Seated Dime, 43 Wash, 23 SQ, 65 Indian, 10 wheat's (oldest 10), smashed (but repairable) Sterling Ring, hammered old copper of some sort, and assorted Nick knacks which the owner wanted.
I gave him the oddities and since he was born in 43 I gave him the Silver Quarter as he expressed interest in it due to it being his birth year.
Here are my keeper finds for the day on the left and the other items on the right.

We talked a while before leaving with the owner and made sure we could come back as we hunted only a small portion of this yard.
The man was very kind and welcomed us back anytime.
Sorry, for the long post and many pictures but, today was a great day all around for not only me but, my friend.
I was very thrilled to see him dig his first Two Cent Piece for this year.
Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting All.
