Well, I headed out again today but, had my intentions on one place and ended up stopping back at another for some odd reason.
I reckon I have not looked it over in about 7 years ( very odd of me). Boy oh Boy am I glad I stopped back. This is a large 1800s historic home and it used to have allot of undergrowth surrounding the property.
Not anymore and man do I have allot of more hunting to do here also.
My very first dig was what I almost pooped my pants over. I thought it was a gold piece but, at this point I am not sure what it is.
It was about 8" in thick stick hard-pack. Take a look and maybe someone knows what it is? My its a colonial fake/toy of some kind? It is copper though.
Then still creeping around I had just got out from under a very large old pine tree and got a faint high sound. It bounced just about everywhere but I always could hear it.
Man I am glad I went after this one. Dug around 10" and checked the hole nothing. Brushed through the pulled soil and I got a rush. It was a 1783 1/2 Charles III realle.
I dug some odds and ends but these where the only coins I dug. I dug something that looked like a harmonic reed, and worn axe head and old skeleton lock and a pocket full of old shotgun caps.
The great thing is I know these folks pretty good so I know I can come back anytime. The lady I know even gave me a 1855 atlas and a historic book on the county before I left.
What a day for finds and now I got more research material. :)
First is the Realle below as I dug it and a photo of the tree I was near close by the old home.

Below is the first little coin I thought was a 1 dollar gold piece. Then along with the realle and other stuff I dug and the back of the little coin.

Thanks for looking and hope everyone had a great weekend and a nice upcoming week.

Wow, nice shape on the half real? I have two so far and both are nothing near that condition!

Great digs Mike, that's quite impressive. I wish I had your area's history to dig through. Very Nice! JJ

Thanks, Dave, Bruce, Ed, GR, MMike, JJ and BX
I am heading back out there tomorrow weather permitting. I hope to get something else old again.
I have found some LCs at this site years ago but, that was the oldest up until today from there. I really think the old Spanish coins are quite neat personally.

You guys ever seen anything like that little coin also posted?????
I have never dug anything like it before in all my many many moons. It is a copper coin. It appears to be of coin like quality and has a readed edge.
It would look almost identical to a 1 dollar gold but, the 1 is centered and there is no date below the 1. The size is close to it also. I would think if it where a fake from the early times they would have put a date on it?

Sweet Reale Mike!!! the copper coin kinda looks like an Indian princess head gold coin?? maybe a knock off..I dunno??

Yea..I prolly would have pooped my pants on that one a bit too:rofl: You have been kicking butt on the oldies here lately!! Keep it up!!!

hat is a Spiel mark, or a gaming piece. Sort of a "Poker Chip" of the day. A very nice Find. Good Job on the oldies. HH...Jesse.
