I had a chance to try out a V3i today since the weather here in Kansas was 70 took it to a very heavily trashed park full of pulltabs and can shards everywhere and an occasional bottle cap, tried it with the 10" dd coil and had a heck of a time getting used to it so I put on the 4x6 prizm coinshooter, made pinpointing a lot easier, I know I wasn't getting the depth but the seperation in targets was amazing, when it hit the high tone it was a coin, all in all wasn't to bad of a day no old coins but did find 3 dollars in change and a couple of buttons 1 being a WW1 US ARMY with a star on each side,I think I should have taken the 5.3 for more depth as I have pulled lots of silver out of here with my XLT needless to say I think I am going to like this machine.would like some input on the 10" coil on target seperation and best method of pinpointing.

Hi there P'79!
I'm curious.........why do you state that you weren't getting 'the depth'........?
I think that six inches using a non-v coil is pretty good.
I absolutely guarantee that you will do better with a small coil, in a park, than you will with a 10 inch coil.
Easier detecting, right on target, less ground effect, better separation, at least double the power in the first few inches, less EMI pick-up.
A v-rated Shooter on the V3, is simply a joy to use.
Here in the UK, I used such a configuration on maize stubble, (using the old DFX Shooter) and pulled 3 tiny hammered silver coins, from just two rows of awkward stalks.
The club rally attracted about 50 people, and only FIVE hammered in total were found. The other two were by a guy using a Minelab 705 with an elliptical 18.5 KHz 5x8 (?)
Again, a relatively small coil compared to the 'bin-lid' brigade.
So may I suggest that you be patient, and keep that coil on for a while, whilst hunting in the parks, and see if it proves to be your weapon of choice.
I'm sure you will find enough cash to buy the V -Shooter Eclipse.
When you find a 'good' spot......just stand still and work it to exstinction...diligently...then move on a pace or two.
"All the best" ............Tex
p.s. Yeh.....the 5.3 will also be a useful test for the parks. Also, try using just single frequency 22.5kHz. and tell us about your progress.
