So this is what I'm up against in my back yard. Every half way decent hit is very iffy and here's why: Almost all the coin finds I have been able to squeak out have nails in the hole. This particular wheat had THESE! I have to say that I don't think I would have aquired these targets with a stock Sov GT or otherwise. Some think the Dixie mods are BS but I don't ride that band wagon. I asked David specifically what he actually does and one of the things he said that was a result of the tweaks is a faster recovery/reset from a null over iron. I guess he wasn't kidding! I'm really loving this machine and today I debut the 12X10 SEF on her. I'll let you know what I think. HH George Fatizzi

How long before they did the mod. did you have the machine? Just interested in knowing if that quicker recover has shortened the response tones? On the beach those long tones sure seem to make the difference. But dirt hunting .... i see how the mod might get you a few of those masked targets.

I bought the machine with the mods already in. It's hard to say about the tones being shortened as it's been a while since I used a stock Sov to compare it to but I've used enough of them in the past to know I would have swept right over this. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't have dug nearly as many targets as I have so far since most are just too closely located to iron or right in the hole with them. I will say that in silent threshold (which is part of the mod helping it to work best) the tones are easily discernible and I still get plenty of target info. I really like this set up. It also gives your ears a break from the constant threshold hum. I hunt in reverse disc a lot of the time so I'm sure when I go over iron because I quickly cross check the target.
