I have been seriously considering the AT Pro but not until just today did I start really thinking about water hunting. So I'm getting excited and started thinking of all the accessories I'm gonna need. Blew my socks off to find out that the headphones are gonna run basically another $100 bucks after taxes and shipping. Not cool.

Sounds like you need to hone your shopping skills. we is in a recession. the retailer/ distibutor need to move their stuff. when i've ordered from kellyco i have yet to pay sales tax and i live in a state with sales tax. you should also be able to get free or reduced shipping. seems alot of the retailers charge more shipping than it takes.if one doesn't want to give then politely thank them and let them know you'll try somewhere else. facts are they know someone will give you a better deal. always leave room for them to start the deal. you will cut your cost down. DO NOT listen to excuses or sob stories. It's your money and they are not out to help you save. they're out to sell their product, bottom line.Nobody has to be mean or nasty. it's business. you can do it. some can't reduse the price of some items but can save you money in other ways..

I've been fortunate to run into some nice business folks when purchasing detectors and accesories ..... If they're in business for any amount of time , they will usually offer you something to make the deal go better for you ..... This makes it easy to spot the GREEDY retailers very quickly !!....Jim

Are you going to put your head under water, or hunt in a crazy surf? You just might do fine with the stock ones. I use the stock ones on my Infinium even though I have the water-proof ones.

If you look hard enough you can always find some one that has free shipping... ..I got the scoop now all i need is my AT Pro hope they ship soon..

Dont be such a cheapskate. Thats a fair price. LOL

Nothings impossible.:drinking:

After the first few failed attempts, $84.99 sounds like a Fair Price. If you shop around you can find them for less (shipping free and no tax).

$85 bucks isn't much for 'phones, but I'm not a big fan of those particular ones (about the same as the Infinium/Seahunters) so I ordered a set of Gray Ghosts from my dealer with the Garrett connector. Paid $145, but they are worth it when your out on the lake or beach and the wind is roaring in those Garrett 'phones. GG's are QUIET in the wind!!

I for one agree that the price you mentioned is a good one. It's at least ten bucks off what i've seen so far. i'd be asking from those who know as to what the best brand and style is. maybe not the most costly but not the cheap one either. ya gotta know once you know it's waterproof the whole machine is gunna end up under some water. My coil's waterproof but i won't take it into the water cause if i trip there goes 700 bucks and i get to get a new machine. the AT PRO supposedly solves that worry. the same for the headset. one slip and it could be replacement time. buy the better stuff and think of it as insurance. as long as you have everything waterproof you'll never fall. murphy's law. :wiggle:

Uhhhh ... water detector .... beach ......

Well I certinaly do intend on getting the control box wet a few times.
What is the point of it being waterproof to 10 feet if it was not intended to be a wader machine?

As for the waterproof headphones ... not everyone needs them.
Wish my Excalibur II had that option from the factory.
