Wounded Indian:stretcher:

The poor guy must have been in quite a battle. :stretcher: Larry scrubbed on him and it still graded out at a Choice VF-30! I haven't been out for some time and this made up for it. I was so tickled when I pulled the coin out of the ground and saw it wasn't a wheat cent, but and INDIAN!!! Yahoo!!! It was so dirty that I couldn't read the date with the loupe. After soaking a bit in the water and reading the date, that's when I about fell over. 1865 was just as clear as could be. :surprised: After that, I found the thimble about 6" deep. Larry came home with a bit of clad and a 1935 Indian Head/Buffalo nickel. He has to buy the ice cream today! What a great day and thanks for looking. Sorry about the poor reverse picture.HH to all, Nancy

Very nice, I have only found 3 of those around here. Glad to see you are getting out & about, hope the fun continues.

Sounds like you,s had a great day nice finds.Never found a Indian head got one in change once from store.

Thanks everyone, It's been hit and miss around here for me to get out with Larry, but today was a good day and the weather and ground was perfect to hunt in. We plan on doing a little hunting over the weekend also. 10 more days of school left and then I'm off for the summer!!! :twodetecting::twodetecting::twodetecting:HH, Nancy

Way to go Nancy!:clapping:

very nice nancy it reminds me of that old commercial where the indian is crying polution

You'll find an IH one of these days. In the ground the VDI was awful jumpy but when it was out, it read a solid 52. Larry checked it with his V-3 and the VDI was 51-52. Good luck and thanks, Nancy

What a great coin! First year of the modern size and composition penny and the it has the "good" green color. (Don't think I've ever seen a ground recovery Indian of that year and funny...I have seen a few "77's... go figure?) That's worth a couple day's of ice cream possibly......?...!

Last year I found quite a few Indians and here's a couple of them. First year 1859 fatty and 1867. I'm sorry I didn't take the obverse picture of the 1867 Indian. I'll have to take a picture of the front of it someday. Now that's a green coin and would have been an EF-40 condition except for the green which takes it down a notch. Even our coin dealer was quite impressed with it. Sure is a pretty green! Cool. HH to all, Nancy
