Would this be Platinum?

Went out in the water at my house for a hunt after a camp out with my son. Worked out side the normal swimming area again and got a nice robust tone that had gold written all over it. Upon inspection it looked like white gold. It has on the inside 14 kt with a symbol P and a rounded corner triangle around the letter. It is quite heavy. Could this be platinum?

14k white gold would have a lot of nickel or paladium in it depending on the composition used to make the gold white. Nickel is more likely with a 14k mix as it is cheaper, paladium is usually used in 18k white gold as it is hypoallergenic for people who get an allergic reaction to nickel. Perhaps the P is part of the makers mark.
14k is always a good thing though.

No...PLatinum will normally say "Platinum", "Plat", 900 which means it's 90% Platinum and a few even have 950 written in them.

14K with a "P" means 14K Plumb Gold. Plumb Gold means that whatever numeric value it has whether ht be 10K, 14K, or 18K that it actually has at least that percentage of gold. It's usually a little over.

So what you have there is a 14K White Plumb Gold Ring. Nice Find!!!!

Hope this helps.
