Would the Deleon 10KHz Outperform The Brand Name 14KHz Detectors In Finding Gold Rings?

Hi All,

Also was wondering if the Deleon could pick up a gold nugget in the field?

Thx.

That's a pretty broad coupla questions. Any half decent detector will pick up gold rings if the discrimination is set low. Better than detectors of different frequencies? - maybe or not. As to nuggets - size and depth really count here. Larger nuggets should be picked up at shallow depth by most detectors, especially in all metal. High frequency dedicated gold detectors will pick up small nuggets deeper than standard detectors, but usually don't work so well for general detecting as they are too sensitive to small trash.

As to the DeLeon, I've found gold rings while swinging mine that rang loud and strong so I don't see where 14hz would have been any improvement. In my personal opinion from using detectors from around 6 Hz to 14 Hz one can't tell any great diffference in general detecting. I know in theory that lower frequencies are supposed to be better on silver and higher on gold nuggets, but there's a lot of silver coins and gold jewelry being found by detectors in that whole range of frequencies so I don't think being concerned about frequencies is of much concern until you go way high like used on detectors designed for prospecting and then one may be better served by a PI machine.

Here are 2 different rings found with the Vaquero in disc.
The small one is very small and very thin, it was found in sand at a small inland beach at least 7" down...it might have been a little more.
My first gold ring I ever found and it came in loud and clear.

The class ring was not as deep, only a few inches, but I am sure I could have found it at a much deeper level.

This range gives you and Idea of what the 14kHz Vaq can do, as far as jewelry I don't think there is much, if anything, to this frequency stuff for normal sized items because I have found gold rings big and small with all my detectors from 5.9kHz up to the Vaq.

Gold nuggets, I have no clue.
I assume the high kHz machines would be better at finding the really small stuff.

10khz freq. Tesoros do just fine on the gold... Least that is my experience with my Stingray. Both my Cutlass uMax ( 12khz) and Stingray ( 10khz ) hit like a ton of bricks on gold.

As for little gold? Lol the Stingray will find lead bird shot in the tot lot substrate and little gold stud earrings in the water.

Hope the info helps you a little on your gold freq. question,

Lakota
