Would like to search close to concrete walls.

Hello everyone, I'am having difficulty detecting close to concrete walls at my local beach due to the noise of the steel bar in the concrete . I'am using a 17in coil for depth but have to stand about 3 - 4 ft away to eliminate any unwanted signals
How can I get closer to the wall with the 17 in coil without getting the annoying signals from the concrete. I was told I could turn the sensitivity way down is this true or is there a better way?

True statement, turn down sensitivity or use a smaller coil and adjust sensitivity as needed. Slower swings and run your swings parallel to the wall.

best advice is to do not swing either toward or away from the steel, dont vary the distance. Sort of like a metal pole, just go around it in a very careful circle staying the same 3 or 4 inches away. Works for me.

Use a 6" or 11" coil. You still get plenty of depth and will work a lot better than the 17" coil close to rebarred concrete.

Thanks for all the good advice looks like I will have to go back to the 11 inch coil , but I will give Jas415 idea a go as well.
