Would Ace 250 be good for novice gold nugget shooting?

I am trying to find a nice inexpensive gift for gold hunter friend who has never used a detector? Would this be a good choice?
Thanks
Tom

First, gold detectors are optimized to detect the smallest possible nuggets, they are specialized machines in that regard, extreme sensitivity coupled with little to no discrimination.
The 250 on the other hand is a general purpose machine that is designed to offer remarkable depth and discrimination on coin sized and larger items.
Yes, the 250 will absolutely find sufficiently sized nuggets, but Yes, it will leave many still valueable sized nuggets (nugg-ettes?) in (or on) the ground.
Having said all that, a REAL gold machine isn't the best all-around detector, and the best all around detector isn't likely to be a great (or even good) gold detector.
I hope this helps, and I'm sure others will have further input.
