They are demoing a bunch of house to make way for a new hi-way. I dug this up at one of the houses. It is copper and is 5 1/2" long.

The back has two loops. It looks like something flat could slide through them and somebody could wear it. Why?

It is a ladies sash buckle or brooch. Nice find and a collectible. GH, David@Dixie
