Would a dedicated 2 box be better than the MH or GTI option?

I have a chance to pick up a top of the line OTHER brand detector (that I always wanted) for a great deal. If I do that, it takes away the money I would use for either a Master Hunter with regular coil and two box, or the GTI 2500 and me throwing in more for the two box.. So brand wars aside, are these two as effective in two-box configuration as a dedicated 2 box unit?

You'ed prob get more use out of a MD w/ two-box attachment than a two box unit. Don't know what apps you need the twobox for but a ferro-probe is another option too as well as an industral MD like the Fisher M-95. Really depends how much your gonna use the unit and what you are looking for.

Well I had my sights set on the master hunter. If all my wheeling and dealing works out right I could end up with it, the 2 box and all the other coils that it takes! I know this would be WAY versatile, but the OTHER detector will do mucho as well except for the 2 box option..

Brand wars aside, as you say, I would suggest you get the Master Hunter. Again, as you say, it is WAY versatile. Like having two detectors in one. A two box unit as well as a machine with a wide array of search coils. Then again, if you want to spring for it, get the GTI 2500 withTreasure Hound Eagle Eye, because with this set up you have a very deep seeking two box unit and with the push of a button use the front "Eagle Eye" coil to pinpoint smaller shallower items with the equivalency of a 15" coil. I have both and use them periodically. Great machines and I cannot sing there praises enough. Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Depends on how deep you plan to go. The MH with two-box will get way down there on larger objects ( we're talking feet ). Plus the MH is a great machine ( with duel discrimination ) as a stand alone for those other hunting chores.

Bill.

Well, I don't know that I have a certain depth in mind really.. I just want the added flexibility for cache hunting. I do wonder how necessary it really is, but these two detectors can do pretty much everything including the 2 box, so I could either keep what I have for coins and 'shallow' stuff and get a two box later, or try to get the best of all worlds with one detector. I just didn't know to compare the 2 box function to an actual 2 box on just that qualification alone.
