I am considering a mod on one of my MK1 excaliburs with the hope of making it a dual purpose machine . I would like actual hands on advice before jumping in at the deep end ( forgive the punnnnnn )
Here goes ... I want to shorten the coil wire on the standard 10" coil by using a water proof in line connector to make this mod a short shaft diving rig.
THEN shorten the wire on my 15" wot coil to use on my " Yorkshire " long shaft to prevent the coil wire winding around and around the shaft .
Im hoping to make this a short dive unit and a big coil unit to help cover the larger sized beaches.
Q1. What make of connector is the most reliable and were can I buy them from ?
Q2. pros and cons of using the wot mod ( is it easier to handle in calmer sea conditions )
Q3. Were is the hot spot and how well does it pinpoint ?
Q4. Will shortening the cable cause any problems like resistance / ohm-age ??
Q5. How much does this wot mod improve target depth ?
Any advice from fellow hunters that have actually use this mod will be gratefully received
happy hunting
