wot excalibur mod pros and cons please

I am considering a mod on one of my MK1 excaliburs with the hope of making it a dual purpose machine .:wiggle: I would like actual hands on advice before jumping in at the deep end ( forgive the punnnnnn ):surrender:
Here goes ... I want to shorten the coil wire on the standard 10" coil by using a water proof in line connector to make this mod a short shaft diving rig.
THEN shorten the wire on my 15" wot coil to use on my " Yorkshire " long shaft to prevent the coil wire winding around and around the shaft .
Im hoping to make this a short dive unit and a big coil unit to help cover the larger sized beaches.

Q1. What make of connector is the most reliable and were can I buy them from ?
Q2. pros and cons of using the wot mod ( is it easier to handle in calmer sea conditions )
Q3. Were is the hot spot and how well does it pinpoint ?
Q4. Will shortening the cable cause any problems like resistance / ohm-age ??
Q5. How much does this wot mod improve target depth ?
Any advice from fellow hunters that have actually use this mod will be gratefully received :please:
happy hunting

MT Pockets is the PRO on the WOT, may want to search his post on this forum and the other treasure forums, [ t.....ne.t....].........just remember different beachs have different sand/salt water mixtures and can affect the results from one beach to another. joe

Hi Joe, thanks for your info , Mt pockets did send me a P.M with loads of helpful answers to my details questions , it sounds like he really knows his onions !!! :clapping:. Following his advice I think I will hardwire the mods rather than use inline connectors and make up my own arsonal of excals, ( one for each type of hunting ) :twodetecting:. Its really good to be able to ask fellow hunters questions on the forum like this , and learn by not repeating expensive mistakes.:please:
I have since replied to M.T asking him for any threads showing idiot proof step by step guides to hardwiring ( cause Im not as daft as a I look ) !!
Keep the videos coming in Joe I must have watched them all by now

This a little OT. Will a W.O.T. coil work on a Minelab Sd2200v2 I have one for my Sovereign GT. and my wife's Explorer SE Pro-2.
Any advice would be welcomed. :detecting:
