WOT COIL

Been thinkin about a 15" WOT coil for my explorer...been leaving it at home and hunting with my Xterra705 , but I want to hunt a large area that was used in the 30'S AND 40'S .
I got the stock coil and a 6" coil for my Explorer XS.....any thoughts or comments.

Ok, so what coils do you own now?
I have and use, the minelab small coil, 10 x 12 SEF and the WOT. I purchased the extra coils last October and love them. They are both real good. In my opinion they help amplify the signals.
Lately I am using the SEF more and it's doing well.
Hopefully some other folks will chime in and give their opinions as well. There are some treads from recently posted about coils - you might also want to do some research to see what they had to say.

I have the stock coil and a little 6 inch coil.

I have used the WOT coil about ten times since I purchased it. It did find coins and it was easy to use - not real hard to pin point as I thought it would be.
I did find multiple coins in the same hole while using it, like a nickle and dime stuck together and also a quarter and nickle together.
But only using it a few times isn't really a good reference. You need others to respond to your post too.
I feel it is a good coil and I like it's performance even though I have only used it a little.

After checking all over the net , I have decided that if the guy buys my UTV tire Monday them I am going to buy a WOT. The place I want to hunt is almost 5 acres. plus other places.

Its a great coil as already mentioned but, it your gonna swing it for any time get Docs swingy thing or something like it.
Your arm and back will thank you for it.

Like you, I also had the stock coil and a 6" for my Explorer SE. When I needed a larger coil I decided to buy the Ultimate 13. It doesn't cover as much ground as the 15" but It's very light for a large coil. After about 2 years of use I really like it. It goes deep and I can swing it without a harness. I've never owned a 15" but I'm thinking of getting one for my 705 to cover big fields...Syd

Well I went ahead and bought a WOT coil, now I just wait for it to get here to give it a try.
Got a couple of large open places to try out .
Will report if I get anything worth reporting.....

It's a great coil, but heavy. I have found a number of deep coins with mine.

The WOT does not like power lines either.

There are some other factors but the bigger the coil the more EMI effects performance.

I have the WOT and it's a great coil. I also have a Nel 15" ..it's lighter and bout near just as good. Though you may be able to get and old WOT at a steal on ebay. The new Nel is also less expensive than a new WOT.
