WOT coil ..no threshold

Brian W

New member
I just got the 15 Wot coin for my Excal...I used the waterproof connector that it came with...After i wired it up I get no threshold with the Wot coil..But my old coil works fine.. And when i unplug the Wot coil the threshold returns...Is this the right way for the new Excal II ....lime green one with yellow headphones? Any help is appreciated Thanks

The Box and stock 10 inch coil are wired

Pin 1= Red
Pin 2= Black
Pin 3= Yellow
Pin 4= White

Wot coil

Pin 1= Red
Pin 2= Black
Pin 3= White
Pin 4= Orange

I cut the cable and spliced the WOT coil cable to the original cable.

I wired black to black, red to red, white to white and yellow to orange.

Everything works perfectly for me.

Could be that your WOT wires are not wired correctly as it looks that your yellow original wire is now connected to the the white wire on the WOT. Same with the your pin 4. Your white wire on the original coil is now connected to the orange wire.

Try switching the wires and see. I think that is your problem.

Do you have the new Excal..green Or the older model blue ...I read that they changed the wires on the new Excals

Brian,
I am in the process of cutting into an Excal and have numerous charts for the various wiring schemes, and you will see my S-12 thread ........Are you sure that your stock coil is wired the way you show ? ....... My charts indicate that it should be wired

Pin 1) Red from Excal to Red on the WOT coil
Pin 2) Black from Excal to Black on the WOT coil
Pin 3) White from Excal to White on the WOT coil
Pin 4) Yellow on Excal to Orange on the WOT coil

This should work ...... I took this color coding from the actual board on the Excal with the indications on the board as to what they do , and then double checked charts .......Your 3 and 4 wires are crossed ....This is why you get no threshold .......Jim

Finderskeepers ....I just realized that I just said the same thing that you did !!......DUH !!!........ A little reinforcement doesn't hurt right ? ......

Hi Mel .........WOW !!....You have 3 NY Excals ? .......God Bless You !!......Do you have a jewelry store ? ..... ......Jim

Yeah but you said it so much better!

Look on Coiltechs website. If you wire it the wrong way the threshold will disappear. It's explained there.
