Found this about 5 inches deep behind a bank and it comes up as silver (87/8:geek: and is very heavy. What else could it be? I'm very doubtful its actual silver-any thoughts?

Go buy some silver acid tester solution. That will tell you what you need to know.

I think you have to include shape when considering VID numbers. Silver coins come in over a range (in Germany) depending on their size. I'd pay no real attention to something that big that gives a silver reading. Well, test it of course. But if it was silver you'd probably be able to see the tarnish or the like I would think? Lead is pretty soft so you can probably check if it's lead, but then again, so is silver.

Also, I can't tell how big that thing is, you need to put a quarter or shoe or something next to it!

i'm guessing its lead-this chunk is pretty soft-i can cut it with a knife-thanks for all the input!
