Worth the money?

Ok, I am very close to pulling the trigger on buying a new 3030. Unfortunately, I will not get the free 17" coil with it that was given out at Xmas time. To all who have had it for awhile, is it really worth the money? How much better than an Etrac is it? ( I don't have one of those either). I have a place that will sell me a new one for just under eighteen hundred so I am considering a new one.

It all depends on your budget situation and what you're used to using. Having said that, to me, it's well worth every penny. I've detected for almost 20 years and have used many different detectors. I've owned every explorer model plus the e-trac. The CTX is hands down the best. Will it locate things others won't?! debatable.....but what it will absolutely do is give you the most information possible about a target before digging. That's the difference between digging every pull tab just because it beeps....and digging the good targets because you have a pretty good idea of what's in the ground. I still use my e-trac as well, but 90% of the time, i'm swinging the CTX.

WELL WORTH IT.. I have literally hunted a park minutes after a detecting club ran through and pulled 10 silver Barbers hidden within the trash and iron.. I can't see myself swinging anything else.

Well, I am selling 3 detectors to get one. I was thinking of getting an Etrac originally but decided to sell most of my detectors (except the White's MX5 I just traded for finding gold jewelry) to hopefully get a 3030. I tried an Explorer a few years ago and have seen others experience with the Etrac so thought that I would get the 3030 to find some of the deeper targets that others have missed. I plan on getting the 17" coil as well.

Like I have said before once I got mine I became convinced that they should have quit making and selling anymore!

Love mine and feel it is worth the money, I had the sovereign, explorer, and e-trac before this.
Shop around and you will get a great deal on one.

The seventeen incher is awesome.

Yeah.... Pull the trigger on the CTX... This machine is awesome, and you will be getting 2 detectors in one.

Is the ctx 3030 worth the money? Only if you want the best! I've Been detecting for 41+yrs and it is the best balanced detector per weight ratio that I can remember.(NO Comments either Jim) ;)
My E-Trac was really good but the ctx is much better. I would recommend getting the 17" coil though.Once you swing that bad boy the pro coil just doesn't seem to cover it.(Pun Intended) :bouncy: It is pricey but well worth the money. I have found gold and seated coins in supposedly hunted out places.More than once. Grumpy

I have one also and worth every penny. Just remember you can take this critter in the water. You cant do that with the E-trac or explorer. I bought mine for mainly working historical water sites. It is truly a pleasure to use. When Im in the water I don't even worry about the meter; its all about the tones dude. You can so customize it the way you want. Good luck, Steve

Of course it will depend on the person and conditions but it is well worth the money for me.

The E-Trac is a very good machine. I still use mine at times because of the Sun- Ray probe but there is no comparison between the CTX 3030 and the E-Trac when it comes to coins, relics, beach hunting wet or dry. They are just two different machines. You will not be disappointed with the CTX. HH :minelab:

Read the forum. This has been asked, answered, and debated to death here and on every forum on the net.
