Hunted for almost 3 hours. Not one coin. 3 bottles caps, a beaver tale pop top, tinfoil, one bobby pin, half a cell phone and a big iron bolt. And still walked away smiling. :)

You have a pleasant disposition. I start getting cranky if nothing is turning up... have to make myself take a break and remember that it's a beautiful day in a beautiful place and I'm pursuing my favorite pastime.... that works for a while...

Been slow here also. In my last 5-6 hunts I have grovelled up two large cents, clad and the usual crapulance. My rincing colander is slowly loading up with scrap brass.

Don't feel bad. Went for a picnic with my wife today, a choice location scenery wise. I was in a swimming area loaded with targets but the rocky bottom was like cement in most areas. Also huge rocks to deal with. I can deal with gravel, clay and many bottom conditions with the variety of scoops I use, however this bottom was so hard the scoop wouldnt bite and I tried pushing material in with my foot. I often move rocks with my feet if possible, then scoop. After an hour+ an struggling to get a few targets in my scoop I actually quit....I never quit! Well, until today. Nothing to post up! On my way home I did spy another swimming home that warrants checking out.....

I feel for you guys, so to make ya feel alot better. This is all I could find also yesterday besides $.20 in change

Welcome to my world, John. I get skunked more often than I want to admit, but it's better to be pursuing a hobby that I love than setting around being bored at home. GL & HH. It feels so good to find a good ring or coin and that makes up for the days when only trash is under our coils.
Nice find, Xmetal. WTG.

Everyone above has said it all. Yup, I have went to some areas that I knew were a "risk" only to be skunked, many times; HOWEVER, sometimes, not always, it pays off. Got to be out there, on the edge!

Cant find anything sitting around in the house! Yeah, those days are intended to make us a better person I think...so we look around and appreciate not what we found or did not find, but the surroundings and nature and just being able to physically do this....so those 'bad' days have some merit along with the good ones. That being said, string a bunch of them together and a fellow gets downright ornery!
Mud

Yep, days like that can be humbling. I know! As Mud states, still better then setting around, though. Wait until next time out! :smoke: HH jim tn

To paraphrase an old fishing adage "That's why they call it hunting, if it was guaranteed, they'd just call it finding" Those are the hunts that make the other ones so great, and going home smiling anyways, is why we keep doing it, it's almost always fun. I'm betting your next hunt is on the other side of the scale. Artie

We all have one day like you had, is what it feels like when was your 24 pulltabs digging time, and also, do not have time to look at other areas that you had intended.
Moreover, the next hunt, with only one currency you find, you'll have improved this bad day.
Thanks for showing the truth, John, also the best detectorist has an empty day, I think it helps to have encourage beginners to those early days of hobby empty too.
