Worst detecting ground out west?

I am going to get a Garrett ATX sooner or later and am headed down to Arizona. Where are some of the places with mineralization that gives VLF detectors fits? Either intense ground or hot rocks or both? The gold does not need to be good as mainly I just want to see how the ATX runs in bad ground.

I have heard of some bad ground up around the Columbia River also and other locations so it need not be just Arizona. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance.

Anxious to hear what you think of it. I am looking at it real hard and will get rid of the pro and keep the gold for general detecting I guess. Use the ATX for gold and other general detecting if it works better than the gold for gold. Seems like it should.

Ha! Contact Grubstake on one of the other forums. He's in Mariposa and can take you to the worse ground in the state. I field tested the original TDI there and it did alright. One had to be very careful with the GB though. I've been told that a Minelab won't work there unless you are using a DD coil. Ask Robb or Doc about that one. They tried.

The Red Hills area west of Chinese Camp, Ca. The mineralization is so strong I found it impossible to use my VLF machines. Neither my GB 2 nor my Scorpion would calm down enough to find faint signals. I used my pick to scrape off an area and found the magnet loaded with red chunks.
