Worried Now About Ordering the ATPro

Seawater

New member
I've heard many good things about the ATPro. But I also don't like hearing about the salt water issues and now I'm hearing about leaks on the faceplate. Yes, Garrett may be a good company and take care of the problem. Yet knowing you may get a defective unit...well...I'm sure you can see my point...

Yes Garrett is a good company and yes there have been some problems but I get the feeling that these problems are being examined under a microscope and may not bear any relationship to reality. I have seen many cases where a problem with a single detector has been cross posted on multiple forums so it may seem like a much larger problem than it actually is. I am not trying to belittle the people who have had real problems but I think that calling Garrett should be a priority since they are the only ones who have the experts who can fix it or give advice.

The At Pro has been the subject of intense debate on a litany of issues going back to a few months before the first units even started shipping. All you have to do is read back on the Garrett Users Forum to find out for yourself.

I try to maintain a positive attitude and look at what the machine is capable of doing. I ordered my At Pro in October of 2010 and have not looked back. This machine does everything that Garrett claimed it would and that is all you can ask. Even a casual reading of the day to day finds posted here and on other forums is a pretty strong testament of what this machine will do in the right hands.

Save yourself some "worry" and $594.00 dollars!!! Buy this, it works in all kinds of conditions, no depth restrictions, you're only limited to the length of the baling twine* tied to it, and its guaranteed to NEVER leak. You won't have to be "worried" about all those pesky precious metal rings and aluminum pull tabs either............

I got one of the first ones made and have had to send it in twice. Am I sorry I bought it?? A big fat emphatic "NO"!!! This thing will do everything they said it would and more. Everyday I use it, I'm more impressed!! Search my posts and you'll see all the GOLD it has found for me, not to mention old coins, silver rings and plenty of clad. Am I worried it will go bonkers again??? Again, a big fat emphatic "NO"!!! Garrett stands by their product and will get you back up and running within a week or so!! I've got a fleet of detectors made by all the major brands and just about every on has had to be sent in for one thing or the other, it's the nature of the beast!!

Thanks for that. I did order this machine today. The pluses do outweigh the minuses. I can't wait to get it!

You will love it if you know how to use it. I've had mine less than 2 weeks and I've found 2 gold rings, 1 silver ring, 1942 Merc, silver cross, silver St Christopher pendent and a bunch of clad.

Great responses. I wish I could give "I Like This" to them like on Facebook!

You'll see you made the right decision...but chances are it will come after you ask yourself, "Why the hell does the arm rest stop in the middle of my forearm?"

Enjoy your new detector! I've done well with mine so far.

Muddyshoes,

I did order one of those arm Gizmo extensions for the AT Pro. I hope it helps from what I read.

Oh it will I got one on mine and it makes a world of diff in the balance.
I made up my mind awhile back that I wanted an at pro and 2 months or so later since I got it and I have no regrets what so ever I am finding deeper stuff more constantly with it than I ever did before and even found my first silver with it last week. Now I'll admit a lot of the things I find I have no idea what it is but some of them is neat none the less.
Good luck with your new pro I know you'll enjoy it.

All brands have pro and cons, And all detector companies have their share of issues because if they didn't they wouldn't need a service or tech dept and a warranty against workmanship.....RIGHT ?????

I also didn't like hearing the bad on the AT Pro, but I bought one anyway just because of Garretts great customer service. Water hunting is the most harsh enviroment you can put a detector through, so breakdowns come with the territory. That is why I have Garrett detectors because of the great service.

My leaking problem is legitimate and I called Garrett and was told to send it back and they will take care of the problem. But make no mistake about it, some had problems and not just the early ones. This is where a company with great customer service comes in and takes care of the problem right away.

But I really think the AT Pro has the ability to be a great water machine once you learn it. When I get mine back it is going right back to being submerged in the water.

My ATPro will be here Monday...:clapping:

Congrats!

Get a tracking number so you know when it will be delivered. They just left mine on the doorstep without knocking. Any passer-by could have taken it the hours it sat out there.

You're gonna love it. It should have the new cam locks and the longer armrest.
