Worn SLQ / Big Brass Dragon / Indians, Old Nickels and Silver Dimes

Finds are from the last 2 weekends at old schools, one fairground and a few city parks (1 railroad park).
NEL tornado coil was used at all sites. Yesterday was a 7 silver day and a good nickel day as well.
The SQL was about 7 inches deep in heavy iron. It read lower than a wheat penny but was repeatable.
The big metal dragon was found about 6 inches down at the top. It broke into 2 pieces when I pulled it out.
I am unsure what is from. The small military pin from yesterday gave me a 12-39 reading @ 7-8 inches.

Very nice first year Merc Dave. If only it was from Denver! The dragon ornament is a great find. I found the exact same Sunday School pin on base in Munich 30 years ago. Look forward to seeing what you come up with next! HH

I am looking to add either the Tornado or Thunder coil to my collection. I know you like to use both coils. I recall you saying they each have their own place in the toolbox. In your opinion, is there a large difference between the two coils? I trust your opinion based on all the finds you have shown in the past few months. I also appreciate you sharing the photos with the group. I like checking the blog after a weekend to see what you have found.

From my experience they are very similar and you cant go wrong with either one.
Both of them seem to hit harder on silver coins and nickels than the stock coil in my opinion.
The Tornado is a little easier to center targets for me but the Thunder seems to null slightly less in junk and is a little easier on my arm to swing for some reason (I run both without a coil cover to lighten)
I have gotten 10-11 inch targets numerous times with both of them and cant really tell the difference.
Maybe a slight depth advantage to the Tornado.

More great finds for sure. Great hunts never get old. I get just as pumped up now as I did as a kid metal detecting and turning over a silver coin or a relic.
