Worn out mystery coin

New member
I suspect this to be Mexican, but who knows. If you can ID it for me I'd be grateful, thanks.

Oh Oh I actually know this as I found one here in Dallas !!!!! French 10 centimes !!!!! 1852-1857 Cool find !!

That's nice oldie there upnorth!! Wonder if it had any of the privy marks? Nice quick ID PKD:thumbup:

I got the same coin (I think I bought it though????) Anyhow, I forged a coin=ring out of it. :)

I will snoop around JR's home museum, and if I find it, it's yours.

Got to wonder who held that coin last ?

Yes sir, I often do. Sometimes even an ugly worn out bit like this holds this type of fascination for me. It never ceases to amaze me were coins end up, like in the middle of nowhere around here. A couple of years ago I pulled out a 42 or 3 German 6 pfennig. What surprised me was the German eagle holding the Nazi Swastika, out in a semi isolated farm field. Not a big deal and likely brought back by a soldier, but the Swastika surprised me. I guess we never know until it's in hand, which is so much fun. :) Thanks for the ID PKB it's appreciated.

Jeez that's in much better shape than this old codger. I call them mirror coins when they have almost no distinguishing features left. Thanks John but I don't like given objects (although your kindness is indeed appreciated), and I don't buy. I'm kind of weird in that it means next to nothing to me if I didn't find it myself. I have a thing were I want to find an old buffalo skull and have been looking for years. A guy told me of a farmer that would likely give one to me. I passed on that offer because of my quirkiness in that regard.

Oh Heck, trade him an old bottle you found or some snares and be done with it....you know it would make him happy...how often does a guy get a chance for a JEdmonton custom ring that matches that coin?

I hear you though regarding gifts of this magnitude...its one of those things...a guy trades stuff so each goes their way the better for it..
