World War II War Medals

These are World War II Nazi medals the two larger ones were given to me me by a friend who was cleaning his house and found them in a old sealed coffee can in the attic. The smaller round one I found with my detector in the woods near my house. The cross with the ribbon on it is a mothers medal it was awarded to the Mothers who sons died in the war notice the date on the back of 16th Dec 1938. This puts a human face on the war for me. It makes me think about the awful cost of that war for both sides and a single mother who didn't have a son coming home for Christmas in 1938!!!

and you think about the price Americans paid but I have often wondered about the other side and how they pay homeage to their fallen.

... I have an antique dealer who is a good customer. He used to travel Europe a lot with a partner years ago buying container loads of antiques .... they used to find lots of repros in with a few genuine items .... Nazi repros have been big business since the 50's.
