YouTube Video on GB II

This is the result of a quick search on YouTube. To be frank, I don't believe there is a video for the original GB. I know there wasn't one with the GoldBug II when I bought it a couple of years ago.

Biggest issue new users of the GB or GB II have is ground balancing. When I was learning I learned to run the machine a little "hot" with a SLIGHT increase in noise when pumping the coil up and down. Start by zeroing out your controls (at the 12 o'clock setting). Then adjust the controls to make the noise when you pump the coil go away. So that the background hum is the only noise when you are pumping the coil. No increase in pitch when pumping down or when pumping up. That is a good place to start as well. I run mine where there is the slightest and I mean slight increase in pitch when you pump the coil toward the ground and no real change when moving it away from the ground (up).

The manuals are available on-line as well if you need them. Go to Fisher Labs to look them up or Google the site.

Sorry, I don't have more for the GB.

Thanks for your reply SODBUSTER?? ( terrible name !! ) Your advice is appreciated . I found that I was running mine way to hot , in the Gold Bug Book by Fisher , Peter Heydeeler ( he has Detected here in Australia ) said to run sensitivity at 10 or no less than seven or so . This was not good advice as we have bad ground here and it took me reading my Zip Zip Book again to realize that was my problem . I now run at 4-5 and the Gold Bug is much more stable and yes I run it slightly on the hot side . The other thing is how regulary I have to adjust the ground balance , do you have to do the same where you hunt ? Also what headphones do you prefer ? From what I have read a really good set can make the world of difference in what to or not to dig . Another question , I have a test nugget ( very small ) and have figured out that the tone stays even when passing over it . My question is with larger nuggets / specimens say from 1 gram up does the tone still stay the same when passing over it or does it risein pitch like say a bit of iron e.t.c.?
By the way there was a Working The Gold Bug Video ( VHS ) but no longer available . I did though just buy on Ebay a video called Detecting with the pros which has a guy calle Nugget Bob giving info on the Gold Bug 1 , it also has Larree Sally ( Zip Zip ) with a Goldmaster Vsat and several other experienced detectorists each showing different makes and techniques for detectors from that era . If you are intersted I hope to transfer it to Video ???
Many Thanks , Martin ( Zone3799 )
P.S How long have you been DTektn?

Hi,

I now have had a Gold Bug 2 (for at least 10 years) and it is excellent on gold nuggets down to .1 grains! I started out with a Gold Bug. It too is an outstanding gold nugget detector. Mojave John out of Southern California produced a video on how to use the first Gold Bug. I bought it when I had my Gold Bug and my gold finds went up dramatically. He had an outstanding video. I only wish he would make one for the Gold Bug 2. He runs the Lifestyle Store and still sells the video. Fisher put out a video on using the Gold Bug 2 a number of years ago, but it was useless in my opinion. It had no field use. Mojave John goes over every aspect of the Gold Bug and shows you how to use it in the field. It will help you a lot. Good luck.

Here is the link for it: http://www.lifestylestore.com/ls_bug_video.html.

What about the gold bug that is coming out real soon. Iv been thinking of buying one. I can't beat the price. How small of a nugget do you suspect it will find? Do you think it will be as good as the old gold bug? Iv seen videos and that thing would pick up supper small pickers....
