Working the bottum of cellarhole!!

smiley

New member
I went to old cellarhole with a little snow it took me half hour to remove the snow . I warmed up the coinstike and was getting nickle reading left and right in the bottum of cellarhole. I dugg a few and they were shotgun shells and i got this strong reading just a little higher then nickle and kept on pulling buttons one after another. I figured someone must have had a sewing box hummm???????? ps the plain buttons are below i found a gold gilt odd square shape lead back object on your left far bottum pic it a ladie profile on it

In the bottum right corner. That's kinda like this one I found with the New ID-Edge (mine was at a cellar hole too right against the foundation). I dugg it outta a bed of nails......
But, man your's looks even better with gold gilt  The C$ sure loves buttins!
hey I just saw you had a second picture too. Ya gut some nice Colonial coat buttons. Your button collection spans alotta years.

Nice buttons! Thanks for posting this.

How often do you guys find stuff right in the cellar holes? I ran into a house site while hunting a civil war site. There were about 4 pretty deep holes. One had what was left of a chimney at the end. It was really difficult hunting around the site. Lots and lots of trash. Thrash is all I was able to find. There has to be good stuff in there. Its right near some earthworks and rifle pits. I did not get in the holes themselves, maybe I should try it though. I was also afraid that one of them could have a well hole in them.

Ive attached a picture of one of the holes.

I several cellarholes i have dugg the hell out of them the small ones seem to find more at them!! I have 43 old mill sites dated from 1740 to 1880 from saw mills to hat factories that nobody in the area has done it will be a very interesting 5 year to do these sites ps if you are worried about falling in the well bob use a long branch and test the hole to how deep it is!!!
