Work sending me to FL and would like to learn some

things.
1.I have a 3D and a CS would they work on the beaches. Is there anything I need to do on them for better performance.
2.Do you have to have any type of papers to hunt in FL or on the beaches.
3.If I had to get a water unit what would be something to get and not put me in the poor house.I would like to try some wading.
Any help would be great
Thank you
Tom Spencer

I have used both units on the beaches here, and yes they both work well. I have found for wet sands you will need to use the SALT modes on each. You may have to ground balance in the dry sand & then walk down to the wet stuff.....
For a water unit, you may need to look for something used. I'd say CZ-20 all day, but they really retain their value as they are built to last & hard to find a cheap one....
Maybe one of our Florida readers can help ya with the rest.....
good luck,
bill

I have used the C$ on the Gulf Side (Marco Island) and I have used the CS and the Excel from Cocoa Beach to Sebastian. They both did fine. I did not water hunt at all. I may be wrong, but I have heard that the salvage companies own the rights to the water on the treasure coast, and that water hunting isn't allowed. I don't know if that's true or not. I mainly stayed in the dry stuff and managed to bring home a little gold (with diamonds) :bouncy:

and all work great. I prefer the C$ or CZ70, but my wife prefers the CZ5. Now, for a wader, Detector pro makes a good wader from what I hear and it won't break the bank. Now the Excal or the CZ20 are probably tops for most water hunters around these parts I reckon. I don't water hunt myself, the waves are tooooo rough around Daytona, but some brave them and do pretty well. But I prefer to hunt in the dry sand or at most up to my knees in the water.

I haven't been over that way since they got hot & heavy with the sand replenishing so don't know how well the finds are, but one thing is for sure, with all those folk, there shouldn't be to much trouble finding a few coins.

BUT, the further south you go from Daytona the more the rules change, such as hunting in the water like around the West Palm Beach area, I hear they are quite picky about hunting past the shoreline unless you have a permit. But don't know about this for sure, I usually don't venture down that far.
