Woods Hunt Day 2

New member
Gorgeous 60 degree sunny day here in Central Ohio. Much better than the rainy day yesterday. Hit my parents woods again full of optimism. Found some older shotgun brass and bullets. The one piece looks like it might have been off a pair of suspenders. But the highlight was the coin, a Philippines Five Centavos. And the best part is the date: 1964 my birthdate. How cool is that. My first coin from this woods. Hope there's more coins out there.

Mike your finds show its not been gone over -- and ohio is old, I would be very hyped about that spot I think you will find something really good looks like nice swinging for you as well How much land do you have ? how does a philipino coin get in that woods > was somone a missionary to the philipines. I also see its almost Identical in finds to my woods slugs & shells you can keep track of the ground you cover byspray painting the side fo the tree say if you have three trees and you cover the tryangle inside paint a dot inward to show you have covered that section thats how i do it its easyto lose track of what you covered

It sounds like you had a terrific day for detecting. You found some really neat stuff. That lead looks really old. I found something just like you did at a civil war military camp. I think its part of some suspenders. I haven't done much relic hunting, so I keep everything that looks old.

Gunnar the woods itself is 5 acres. My parents farm total is 135 acres. There's a site where a 1870 one room school use to sit as well. I haven't the slightest how a Philippines coin ended up there. Two of the shotguns brass are stamped Western Xpert. Never heard of those. That's a great idea on marking the trees as I've just been rambling around so far.

Yep Tabman a fun day for sure. I think I'm starting to like woods hunting better than parks and schools. Never know what the ground will give up. For me being out in the woods doing anything is sort of spiritual experience.

Hatpin, I've found 6 Silvers and 5 Indians there so far. Have wait on the corn to come off before I can get back on that site though. Boy I wish I was retired so I could metal detect 40hrs a week instead of going to work. :detecting:
