Woods Discrimination

fsdigital12

New member
I hunt mostly woods lately, not very trashy, sometimes no signals for long stretches, however I have been getting lots of falses, in both FE Coin and Ground Coin...I usually hunt open screen with the very bottom line discriminated. But I at times very often will get falses, high tones and blips of non-repeatable signal.

Should I add more discrimination?

Can I use the stock coin pattern? Will I lose depth?

Thanks for any help

hey maybe i can help. I hunt in the woods alot too and i too get those occasional blips and false signals. If youre able to already identify these as iron then you shouldnt have to add more discrimination. Here is a real helpful tip i got from the guys here. Try leaving the bottom line completely open but reject the top ferrous line except for 1-33 through 1-39 leave those open. Use 5 tone combine audio. It helps cut down on alot of those blips. Also ferrous-coin gets a little goofy with all the target cursers bouncing around. Maybe just try and stick with high trash or ground coin. I hope i am spreading the right advice, someone please correct me if i am wrong. Im sure others may help steer you even closer in the right direction,. good luck HH

Hot rocks or some minerals in ground? too much sensitivity? coil bumping into limbs, roots, etc? cell phone interferance? too close to shovel while walking? noise cancel and ground balance all done before and occasionaly during hunt. all things that ive done (and still do), just my thoughts, good luck and lets see some find pics.

Thanks for all the tips thus far will have to try a combination out. I like ground coin mode as it seems to id a little better but I've heard it can process slower... Never seemed to notice that

Also dont forget that you can check the target in all 4 target separations,,, low trash, high trash, ferrous coin and ground coin, but im sure you already knew that. just a friendly reminder. HH and GL

If the forestry has planted trees it is like a plowed field and messes with auto ground balancing try backing down the sensitivity a tad.
