woods and old foundations

i have a question. when you guys hunt the woods or old foundations in the summer, do you take a weed eater with you?? I have a line on a couple of dynamite spots but the weeds are pencil thick and shin high. Any helpful hints out there??

Funny you say that. I see a relic hunter take pics of cellar holes with no weeds in site.
I am sure he has weed filled sites , like the rest of us.
He just does not post em :poke:.

i enjoy hunting old foundations too. i always hit them spots very early spring before the weeds start to grow. for that reason. i dont bother in summer. once in awhile you may find one in the woods where there isnt any under grouth but not often

I've always figured you don't mess with mother nature. I adjust my hunting to the seasons although I know some aren't that lucky . I hunt beaches during the hot months down here in Texas for jewelery and during the cooler months I'll hit the woods and fields and go deep for the old stuff. But a weedeater is one way to get ur done. I can tell you though that one day my weedeater connected with a moccasin and launched it about 8 ft. up in the air and he came down on my head. He only brushed me really and I don't know who s*** the most most but I took up drinkin again. HH

You know, that could really ruin a day.....but if you had a video of it I bet it would go viral! :surprised:

Love to have a video of that one myself but i't could come back to haunt me I would never put that on a forum . I guess after a half a century a lot of us have a lot of interesting stories to tell but that's for another thread HH

I have taken a weed eater with me many times. Use it to grid off a 20' x 20' area, search it thoroughly and then grid off another.

I take a gun with snake shot and good insect repellent.

I believe that I can jump out of the way of a snake faster than I can get my gun and drawn shoot it.
