Woo Hoo, First E-trac silver

A friend of mine sent me a link to Goes4ever's webpage today. I watched about six videos and was chomping at the bit to get out. I had too many things to do. I told my wife I was just going out in the yard. I couldn't get the E-trac to sound right. I messed with the menu and finally did a reset. Not sure what I had messed up but that got the familiar sounds back in the headphones. Had a neighbor watching and went after a deep mixed signal. I couldn't find anything in the hole and gave up. About three steps later I got that amazing silver sound I have heard so much about. Deep with a touch of trash near it. I went six inches and stuck the probe in the hole. Winner! When I heard it through the probe I knew it was something good. Another inch or so and out came this beautiful Merc. A great way to start my silver career with the E-trac. Got a hunt planned Thursday and feel so much better now.

Congrats on your first E-Trac silver. Nice looking coin. I think that 90% of everyone's first silver is a merc dime. I believe it was a 1944 merc for me as well (that was 39 years ago, 1973). If I were you, I would be back out in the yard. Get yourself one of those flashlights that straps to your head and you're good to go.

Oh yea! Congratulations on your first of many!!! It's a great machine! Cheers to a long-lasting relationship... I remember my first....1964 Washington Qtr - then a 1911 Barber Dime....still looking for the first Merc, strangely enough! Congrat's...

Congrats on your first Silver - Mercury Dimes are a real nice find ! :beers:

There's a sound that's going to stick in your mind now! Always stops you in your tacks.

Congrats! :clapping:

The E-trac is a different beast from most detectors that you have used in the past. I was lucky that I had a lot of experience with the Explorer which is similar but still had some adjustments to make. Give yourself some time and use the factory presets for a while until you get the hang of it. After you get that down then you can move to different modes or patterns if you choose to. I use a modified coin program and have had a lot of success in the very short time that I have had the E-trac. It is a great machine !!! Congratulations on your first of many silvers to come and HH.

Congrats on your first e-trac silver! Many more to come.

Congrats on your first silver - there will be many more to come. My first E-Trac silver was a Washington quarter.
