wont disc out zinc

ok folks, my 505 wont knock out a zinc. the manual says it will. i just figured out it wont disc them out. i was not able to hunt since acquired machine, was laid up with surgery. just started short soft sand digs so not to mess myself up. i went to sand pits under playgound and had a pocket full of pennies, a dime a measured 6+ inch down, my gator has a ruler, a key ring loop that double beeped. nice to know it will hit both sides of loop, and a broken piece of avon jewelry. quick hunts, pleased so far. then realized what was going on. . yea the zinc they spend but a concrete hard playground loaded in eat up pennies from soil and fertilizer aint worth it. i was geting hits on hard ground i could not dig with gator, too much damage to lot to get them out., and strain on me yet. we are in drought. the meter, if it says a zinc, it is one so far. it says you can disc it out. i turned mine all the way to max, and all the way low on sensitivity, and i still find the zinc. is it me or am i doing something wrong? i was going to trade machine, its my first ID machine, but i am more beep and dig. i wont trade off till i know its right! help! its a penny monster!

well i just dont run a lot of disc. so that was it, i realized i was not turning disc right. dont like notching either. beep and dig for me! if it does says a zinc, it is one as well as other coins. dead on there. traded the machine off to someone else who was fine with it. did find the cable was not plugged in all the way, that helps! i duh huh. it was a good unit but i am old switches and knobs guy. thanks still want a tracker IV or 202 for beach! will have to wait for next year!
