Won't be going detecting for a while....tons of renovating to do in the apartment house

Hank and I had been renting out 3 apartments in the front house of our property ( we live in the back house).

Over the years, the tenants have become increasingly irresponsible in taking care of their rental apartments; they leave them dirty, holes in walls, etc.

We can no longer handle all the work involved in the perpetual cylce of preparing , renting, cleaning.... so we're thinking of moving to smaller quarters.

In the meantime there is lots of work to be done to make the apartment house presentable for potential home buyers.

Thought some of you might be interested in seeing what we're up to. so here's some pics ( 3rd floor apartment) of what we've been doing ....slowly , but surely. My job right now is cleaning all the wood work , walls, and appliances.; then painting the walls; then Hank will put down the tiles and replace appliances.

The house was built in the early 1920's.

We will have to hire pros to do the more challenging work.

Two more pics are added below this post.

If any of the entrance doors have leaded glass get them appraised, they're quite valuable. If you have any of them, replace them (sell them) with another door, you'll be way ahead.

It's actually a 2 story house with an added basement apartment( that's another disaster). Middle floor apartment is not too bad, but still needs work.

There was an outhouse in the back yard ( over which our present home was built) for many years to service those living in the basement apartment before being updated to indoor plumbing in the early '30"s.

Hank and I moved across town to this property in 2001 , several years after his father passed away. It was easier to maintain the rental apartments while living "on site" than from across town; but now it's become a " white elephant"

I think there may be some good detecting on this property...did find a walking Liberty near the old Still site a couple of years ago.

I think this project would be classified as a " when you can, do what you can with what you have where you are" :smoke:

Better yet...send over an apparatus that would just raze the entire house...flat to the ground. Then a landscaper who would make a beautiful front yard for me. :yo:

Scubbing bubbles and easy off... Since I was diagnosed with MS earlier this year, I have really learned which items help me best when cleaning.... I even put some scrubbing bubbles on a glass window that had the hard water stain, aka Keely has been too lazy to wash the garage windowns... and I be snookered if the scrubbing bubbles didnt take out that hard water type of film! You know, the old bottles with the rainbow effect on them...

Easy off will work on all kinds of grease, helps you save the grease in your elbows...''

People just have no respect for others property anymore....
