Wondering if Garrett will come out with a large coil for the AT series

The 5x8 coil I'm looking forward to for trashy places, but I'm hoping we can get a bigger coil to boost our depth.

They do make a bigger coil...The 9x12 Proformance concentric...Why it is not listed on Garretts website as an accessory coil anymore is beyond me, but it is still on the Kellyco site...I plan on getting this coil come Spring time.

HH,

That's not much bigger than the stock coil. I know each kind of coil has a big following, with older users liking concentric coils and the new camp liking the DD coils.

Still a question of which would get better depth.

Wow, how much bigger you want? Something like that 15" monster Fisher makes? Takes a mighty good shoulder to swing that beast I hear. Or maybe a 12 x 15 SEF? that thing's gotta weigh a ton!

Several years ago I bought a 14 inch DD coil for my Grand master hunter and was very disappointed because while I liked the coil, it was simply too heavy for me to swing. My wife uses the 9X12 concentric on her Ace 250 and has liked it since day one. It is the only coil she will use now.

Whaaaat? You don't think a 9x12" coil is not much bigger than a 5x8" coil? Thats a good one...!

Maybe you should get the bigger one and let us know if you are tired of digging that deep...

UMH the stock coil on the ATPRO is 8"x11" so yes the 9"x12" is only 1" bigger that is what I took that he meant from his posts. He was wanting something bigger yet from Garret.
Yes of course that is bigger than a 5.5"x8.5" coil on the ATGOLD.
He said he was looking foreward to trying the smaller coil due to seperation in trashy areas.

Well with the infinium I really enjoyed the big mono coil. But yea I know that those don't work with VLF machines. Mainly I'm looking for info from people who use concentric coils like the 9x12 versus the DD coils. I preferred the mono coil over the DD on the infinium, but the ATPro works awesome with the DD, just wondering how the depth, etc is with a concentric on the ATPro.

The concentric is going to give you better depth, and the DD is going to give better separation...I have not seen ANY DD that gets the depth the AT coild get...I never have my SENS above 6 out of 8, and still dig 9-10 inches...
I have not used the 9x12 yet, but I bet it can hit a dime at a foot...

HH,

I'm inclined to agree here ... I don't think I would want to swing a coil bigger than the 9x12 for fear of my arm falling off :p
