Wonderful Free Historical Topo Map Resource

Currently, this collection has over 2,000 historic USGS Topographic maps covering several areas of the United States. The maps are available in various scales and date back as early as the 1800s in many areas. You can seamlessly overlay these maps onto Google Earth. I'm using a 1919 USGS topo map of Sonoma for an area that I've been researching and are going to check out soon. Wonderful resource! Link below:

Thanks lensman... I was able to download some stuff but I downloaded that Google Earth link but I don't know how to open it or how to use it... does anyone?
this is what it says on the page but there is a blue button to click on which I did and downloaded the file but can't open it or do anything with it...

First, click on the button below to load the indices into Google Earth.



Just click on one of the indexes, find the area you are interested in, click on the placemark in the center of the outlined area, then click on blue hyper link for the map year you want to view. The maps will appear under Temporary Places. You can delete them from there when you
