Wonder if the future Gold Bug will be

Keith Southern

On 71 KHZ??? I saw online a dealer had the pro listed at 71khz and using different coil's....

Makes you wonder if the tek G2 will stay at 19.2khz and the soon to be released gold bug's (pro or whatever) will be sporting the ultra sensitive 71 they have became famous for in the gold hunting community??

Just a thought

That "whatever" that a dealer somewhere has advertised: If it's at 71 kHz, it's a Gold Bug II. If it's not a Gold Bug II, it doesn't run at 71 kHz. If it was made in El Paso. If it's actually a Chinese fake, then who knows what is or ain't?

The new Gold Bug and its derivatives are multipurpose machines running at 19.2 kHz. Jacked up to 71 kHz it wouldn't be any good for coinshooting and would be of questionable value even for relic hunting. So it ain't happ'nin'.

In another thread someone asked if the "old Gold Bug" searchcoils will work on the new Gold Bug, since they're both 19.2 kHz. The answer is no-- different electrical characteristics, different connectors.

Someone also asked again if the Tek "Frat Bros." concentrics will work on the new Gold Bug, since the DD's will. The answer is "only if you get lucky". The Gold Bug is designed specifically to work with DD's without any attempt to accommodate concentrics. The concentrics either won't work or are very marginal.

It has been reported that an SEF accessory coil (as I recall a 12x10) is now available for the "Greek Teks". Since SEF's are basically DD searchcoils, there's a good chance they may also work on the Gold Bug platform products. However without having examples in my hands I cannot say anything definitive about them.

Here's a shot of it....Kinda weird

And may I say Dave the Gold Bug is proving to be one of the best relic hunting machines I have ever used.....I keep returning to my beat to death areas and I am finding Good relic's with relative ease...a lot of the item's have just plain been masked by the bad dirt...When you start remembering each individual rock in spot you know you have gone over it a bunch! But the Gold Bug always seems to find some targets that an amazing amount of other machines have walked over.....

And in the iron infestation areas it is the quickest separating detector yet and does it all with no erratic noise even on 100 gain...And its the best yet at Target I.D. stability...Once it locks on a target it stays ...

Just though I would say thanks Dave and F.T. Crew for the Machine...It has already found me an rare Early South Carolina button ...So it's a keeper in my book for sure....Don't know what ya'll plan on changing but there's not much that's need's improving from my standpoint...I am satisfied !!

O'Yeah thanks for the ability to set the tone break where ever I like:thumbup: please don't forget that as an option on other machine's it is a must in bad dirt and unmasking

around the part about the "Frat Boys" concentrics working with the GBSE and that being a factor of "luck"......, I tried the 8" from my Gamma and the 8" from my Delta....one worked flawlessly with great"normal" depth while the other wouldn't run at all. You're spot on as usual.:please::detecting:

Seems to me the ad above is incorrect. That ad with the 6.5 and 10 inch coil running at 71khz, reminds me of the Goldbug 2. I think that is a major typo!

Can't wait for someone to try one out on it. I am liking the 11 inch DD on the beach a lot so I got a long way to go before an SEF is in my stable.
