What's up with metal detecting lately. Seems like it's been attracting women like crazy.

Today was the 4th time in a row where I was approached by a woman. But today I was approached by three at three seperate times.
How can an old married guy like me get any digging done?

I wonder if that makes them "Gold Diggers"? :thumbup:

AHRPS hosts a monthly meeting called Detector Owners Rendezvous here in the Portland, Oregon metro area. We started it back in May, and I would say that almost a third of those attending have been women. The seminars I do for a local dealer seem to bring an attendance of 20% or more. Personally, I don't mind women being interested in this great sport, and based upon their individual good nature, patience (especially), and their care about/interest in other's finds as much as those they make themselves. In addition, they usually aren't as 'competitive' as a lot of males are! In order, Aundrea, Debbie, Toni, and Mary account for the 'Top Four' of my 'Top Ten' favorite hunting buddies.

There were five of them a the top but one lost interest a few years ago after a divorce and she moved on to other things. Aundrea's husband, Chris, now got to move up the the #5 spot. He might stay there a while, unless another good female candidate comes along. :)

Yep, it is a trend and many have a very solid interest.

Your not decorated with massive bling are you? You check book isn't poking up out the back pocket?

Only time woman look at me when detecting is when they catch me looking at woman - other times it's when I go detecting and have the 2 puppies leashed to my belt loop, they are looking then at the puppies of course.

My detector is only a women magnet when I arrive home and at one other time. If my wife and daughter did not go with me they run out the door to usher me in wondering if I have any gold or jewelry! Most the time they go with me though and do their own detecting. They can tell though when I come up with something that they would like to have, it must be the look on my face, at that time they lay their detectors down and are magnetized to me again!

Thank God I find a few man's rings too! Thank God I have a great wife and daughter too!

Actually if you look at the detectors now made. They have a kind of sleek blackish racy small sports car look, no longer look like a big clunky lunchbox.
Some women probably find them sexy and want to know what your swinging. And if you pull a gold ring out of your pocket, you may
just found a new hunting partner.
 
My wife always enjoyed my finds but won.t md.......hh.......Dan

Maybe he should buy some extra tall matching green under pants. A pair of those would be much more comfortable than crack spackle!

now that i think about it i probably have twice as many women ask me what im finding .... usually they want to see if im finding any jewelry... i have had several women say they wished they had brought thier metal detector along.... i know there are women detectorists out there but i rarely ever see them using them.. i did run into three drunk women on the beach last summer at va beach .. they said they werent interested in seeing my finds , they just wanted to check out my equiptment... .its a good thing i already had a slight sunburn as im sure my face would have turned the same color red....lol.... i just told them its a soverieng gt with a 15in coil and went about my merry way ... .
 
The women I've run into almost always want to know how much "gold" I've found. Though the last one said she owned a metal detector, but didn't have the the time to use it anymore which was a shame because she was a real looker!:)

especially those that become too friendly.....they only want you for your gold......dang Golddiggers what they are.
But if they are hotties, free, and your too old and ugly to get a date, tell them of all your gold finds. Kind of like the tall tales fishermen tell....Keep a picture in your wallet
of piles of gold that others already posted on the web..........and just keep on smile'in.

This is getting rediculous, today hunting with one of my friends we were approached 3 times. This gave us a total of 5 women today which was fun but we got no silver and no gold :-(
