Woman allegedly pulls out a handgun and shoots at the tires of a tailgator....

[size=medium]Ahhhh... one of my pet peeves. Below is a short story in the news this morning about a woman shooting at the tires of a tailgater. My peeve is tailgating... or as I like to call it, reckless endangerment. And I think it should be treated as severely as running a red light. I think everyone knows that for safety reasons, you're supposed to keep one car length distance between you and the car in front of you for every 10 mph you're going. How many times have you seen someone tailgating another person or yourself with only a couple feet between the two bumpers at 60 mph?

Unfortunately, the woman had a conceal carry permit, but apparently she was never issued a "Brain Functioning Permit". The mis-use of firearms by people with conceal carry permits is actually very, very low. Obviously this woman is a little too mentally distraught to be issued a permit. Although I do sympathize with her anger.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A woman who told authorities she was fed up with tailgaters pulled out a gun and shot at the tires of a pickup that got too close, police said. Officials believe the bullet missed the pickup, and no one was hurt. Bernadette Headd, 39, was in rush-hour traffic Wednesday in suburban Detroit when the pickup pulled behind her, police said.
Headd changed lanes and fired one round from a 9 mm handgun, police said. The driver followed her and flagged down a deputy, who stopped her and found the weapon.

"She said she was tired of people tailgating her," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said.

Headd, who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and use of a firearm during a felony.

She was ordered held on $50,000 bond.

Evidently she missed the tire. At the very least she should be sentenced to 20 minutes community service for noise pollution, and five years for missing her target.

Here in evansville a few weeks back, a man who had a conceal-carry permit was sitting in the food court at the mall, and he had nothing better to do than sit with his hand in his pocket on his revolver, slowly pulling the hammer back, and, with his thumb on the hammer, pulling the trigger and slowly letting the hammer come to rest, repeatedly untill, OOPS! it goes off right in the mall packed with people on a saturday night, no one was hit, and he was not even cited for this careless act, it wasw considered an "accident" its giving the people in authority second thoughts about us having a "right to carry" law in this state........
