Woe is me

I just posted a wanted ad in classified for an AT Pro. Sometime between Wednesday noon and this morning it disappeared from the trunk of my car which I always keep locked. Insurance is $500 deductible so I am up a creek without a paddle.
Believe me, from now on when I have valuables in the trunk I will test lift the lid after I push the button on the key fob. Just venting here, please excuse me, grrrrrr.

If you haven't called the insurance company yet do so, in some cases the deductible does not apply.

Sorry for your lose,

Ron in WV

Man, I hate a thief! Sorry to hear about your loss... hope the insurance company will help you out, even if it is just a little!

Report the serial # to Garrett as stolen as soon as possible.

Thanks, all, for your input. So I did notify Garrett of the theft and the insurance guy (Hartford) called back saying with the deductible there would be about a hundred and sixty for the ATP. First though I had to file a police report which I did. The awkwrd part is I don't know if I left it standing by the trash can where I emptied my trash or did put it in the trunk after last use. I did go back to the site where I was hunting with permission, but nothing had been reported found. I posted it in Craiglist's lost and found and searched for new ATP for sale listings. No luck, yet. I'm still in shock.

Yes and no on the back ups, a Tesoro Compadre and a Whites GoldMaster II. My beginner Compadre is limited and I never bothered to learn how to use the GM II (a gift). I need something for the Florida Gulf Coast next month. The irony is today my new 6" RTG beach scoop arrived from Hollands Brook and I can't go try it out in the rivers and lakes.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, Forrest.

Watch Ebay...it may turn up there or in a pawn shop. ALWAYS record the serial number...and to be safe
etch the thast degits of you social security number on the machine somewhere.

Sorry about your bad luck & hope things work out. Look around at pawn shops like some of the guys said it may pop up. Have seen this happen to guys over the years that is why I never leave my Detectors in the trunk of a car or in the open were people can see them. Also the heat from inside the trunk can damage the electronics on your detector.

Best Of Luck,
Bill G

Tough loss, my condolences. I've never left a detector behind, but I have lost a couple pair of gloves and frisbees by setting them on the roof getting back in the car and then forgetting about them.

I'd suggest not etching the last 4 digits of your social security # on your detector or anything else. On SS#s issued before 2011, the last four digits are the only random numbers.

GOOD NEWS! I've recovered my AT Pro. An AT Pro was listed on Craigslist so I arranged to meet the guy. It was my serial number, I showed the him the police report with the serial number and he said, "in that case it is yours". Said he bought it, $100, from a friend who found it. Yep, It's feasible I may have left it leaning against a trash can when I was emptying my pouch. I offered him a reward, but he said none was necessary. Old Betsy is in perfect working order. What a relief and I'm counting my lucky stars, believe me.

I'm glad you got it back, I suspect he's the one that took it in the first place no doubt. No you have to call the Police Department so the case can be closed and the serial number of the stolen item can be removed from NCIC (a computerized index of criminal justice information i.e.- criminal record history information, fugitives, stolen properties, missing persons)

Good new's, I'm glad you retrieve your AT PRO, congratulations and ... take better care of your Old Betsy

Yeah, Senda, I'm thinking of attaching a string on my wrist to the Pro!!! Snide, I did notify the PD of the recovery. Thanks.
