wnc riverbeds and creeks

You're not far from Thermal City Gold mine , google it , and there are some Gem mines around also , Thermal City has them as well. Also , I found it once , and now I cant find it , and if you can please send me the link , but the if you look at the NGIS website , they have a section that tells where every mining operation that has had a claim filed on it is in the US , it also tells what was mined , when it was opened , and closed , and GPS co-ordinates of it's position . If you could find that site you could find out if any gold has ever been mined in your area and if so , if that creek is running through your back yard . Again , if you find the site , please send me the link , I was using it for the same reason in my area . Good luck.

Is there anyone from this area that can give me some advice on where i should start searching, and any advice on good dredging areas to around this area

If you dont have anyone local in your area to help you out , use the web site listed above ,, find the old mining sites in your area and go from there . I'm not that good with computers but you could find a lot of info on here , good luck ,

Tallman37, look into joining the Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA). For a small annual fee you will get a book showing many sites in NC along with every other state. All the listings in NC are pay to dig areas. Not to say you can't find others and talk some local land owners to letting you on their property. In other states they have rights to existing gold claims that you are allowed to enter. Don't try and dredge or prospect on private property without permission. As to the Thermal City Gold Mine the book lists a phone number of 828-286-3016 and here is the website http://www.thermalcitygoldmine.com I'm wanting to go into that area sometime this year too, probably in the fall.
