WM 10 Recharge

How long does the WM-10 charge last and does it automatically shutoff after a period of time when the detector is turned off? I didn't see these mentioned in the manual.

I have not ran mine down completely. When I charge the main battery I charge my WM 10 also. I manually turn off my WM 10 when I turn the CTX 3030 off. The manual that comes with the CTX is not much information . If you haven't already downloaded the manual from the CD you should do so. After downloading I carried mine to Staples and they put the manual in a nice binder for a very reasonable price. Congratulations on your new machine! The more you use it the better it gets. I am looking forward to getting to a good site so I can get a lot of target digging in. That's the best way to learn.

After coming from the E-trac, I was a bit disappointed to see how "cheap" the CTX seems to be. I put electrical and duct tape along the sharp edge of the lower shaft and around the coil cable at that spot to keep it from cutting. Also the plastic screws, the flimsy tab on the alkaline battery box. The cheapy shaft clamp.... Ughhh.

A 6"-8" piece of black automotive electrical conduit works nicely on the coil cable where it goes into the shaft. It protects the cable very well.

Have you tried the 12V way to charge? I tend to drive about 20 to 30 minutes to get into downtown Houston so quite often I will just plug the battery and wireless into a 12v and charge them as I drive. Also believe that way charges a heckuva lot faster! I haven't done some sort of timed experiment but it just seems that it will recharge totally in about an hour that way. When I first plug them both in and then put the plug into the 12v receptacle, I get a flashing red light but in about 5 minutes it goes flashing green. Don't know if that has any bearing on anything, just thought I would mention it. lol

I haven't had the opportunity to try the 12v yet. When the detector arrived yesterday, I put the lithium battery on the charger and loaded the alkaline pack. I'm running that until those die.

I will be making several trips to my sister's place again this summer. I took 3 and 4 day weekends all last summer and really cleaned up with my E-trac. I'm anxious to go back and see if the CTX will pull more from the spots we hunted hard. I'll be taking long weekends again starting the weekend of the 18th of May right through August. Right now I have 11 weeks of time off saved up. The car charger will come in handy!
