With the violent weather (Twisters/floods/fire) sweeping our nation

I wonder if there are any recovery stories for these poor people. You know, unless it happens to you, it's hard to imagine your life being ripped away like that. Just never seen anything posted about this. No doubt that someone has found, returned something back to these people.

Every once in a while a News agency covers those stories...I remember one from that big Alabama Tornado outbreak a few years ago...a photograph was found 200 miles away or something..

Along the same lines, up here in the Big Lake, when theres big waves and warm water, lots of people out in it...rip tides form, and somebody invariably drowns, so its common practice for everybody on the beach to hold hands and form a 'chain gang' of sorts to try to make a rescue...lots of rings get peeled off in that endeavor..so us as detectorists are truly involved in the tragedies of Mankind, past and present....like hunting a battlefield..

Big Bad Weather causes all sorts of losses for Humans, we are pretty fragile in the scheme of things..

Can't imagine having a nice home and in an instant its all gone, home, valuables and all.
With all the storms here lately we got tornado watches and the occasional tornado warning. All you can do is head for the basement or shelter and hope for the best.
For those who live in tornado prone areas if you don't already have one, get a weather radio capable of severe weather alerts.

Far as detecting and searching a tornado stricken area, IMO its in the same category as searching a cemetery which i will never do.

However this all reminds me of something i forgot.
A couple years ago while a contractor was emptying my septic, he gave me a heads up on his father-in-laws silver dollar cache swept away during a tornado that leveled his house years ago and not too far from my property line.
They recovered most but not all by eyeball only. Problem is a new owner bought that property and built a new home on it.
The contractor suggested i detect the nearby RR tracks as thats where they found many of those blown away silver dollars. If the rain and storms ever stop i might try that area and see what happens.

I live in SW PA. In 1985 we were hit by a F5 Tornado just leveled are entire neighborhood, I will never forget watching it destroy house after house and all the debrie swirling around it,Now as far as hunting a tornado area, I have hunted this area with permission from many of my neighbors and still do now and again. I have returned many things that my neighbors were very happy to have back.

I would need a underwater detector.. My house and most of my furniture is underwater with no insurance.. Sucks to be disabled !!

[nice guy huh]
Don't know what happened but if Rita had not destroyed Lake[d] Charles, a friend and I would have searched for her coins and whatever,
for free. As Rita landed 30 miles west of my house and brought in 100 tornados, we had our own problems...and I had stayed thinking the storm would
hit the projected target of Galveston.

Spent 3 days cleaning out, now we need to wait for Fema!! Don't put any faith in the government !!! Trying to sell my fors cor to help with the mountain of bills. By the way it is in the classified here..
