With sunny hot weather: What kind of head gear do you use?

It is almost 90 today and took the day off to rest. I wonder what kind of head gear members are using in this kind of weather. Here is what I am using this summer. I used to use a sail boat cap but my neck would always get sun burnt. With this cap I haven't gotten sun burnt on the neck. So what kind of head gear do you use??Z

Finn spoons hat and sun glasses for me

Well I have been using a baseball cap. Gotta watch the sunburn. I like the hat you showed. I also have used a wet towel under my hat, Beale.

Great thanks for replies. Ok you know I am going to ask you. What is a boonie hat? Da Yooper what the heck is a Finn spoons hat?
I would use the wet rag on my neck but still would get sun burn. So would always look for a hat that would protect my neck as well. My wife found this one at Cabela. I do not work for them. I only been there two times and each time come home with some unusual items as my wife states it. It is more like, are you nuts, why would you buy something like that. What will the neighbors think?
Ah life as a normal goof is grand....Z

My buddy owns the company Finnspoons, fishing lures and clothing. Finnspoons hat is just a baseball cap:bouncy: Google finnspoons and check him out.

I just wear a ball cap and sunblock on my neck. I guess if I wanted to be hard core, I could just grow a mullet... LOL

I stay away from sun tan lotion. I believe that all the skin cancer is being caused by that stuff. Your body does need the nutrients from the sun. You block nutrients and you don't get out in the sun enough you are asking for trouble. When you do get out once and a while you get sun burn and don't get out again for a few months it isn't good. A daily dose of good old sun is excellent for the health of a person. My neck, the back of my neck seems to be a tender spot. What do you guys think??? Z

Well, I think this is a nice selection for every day hunting.

But for those beach outings, you have to go with the flow.

Be sure to have more than one beach outfit.

There are just so many nice choices, I have a hard time
making up my mind sometimes.

hi z! i just use my welder's cap made of lite cotton. {that doesn't make me a welder, either!} it does a good job of keeping the sweat and bugs at bay. and you can see it a mile away because of all the garish colors. hh,

I knew TD would beat me out with the weird of weird. Good job TD. Those are some real gems.
Waterdog I used to water detect but the bright sun reflecting off of the water gave me a headache. What do you do about that or does it not bother you?
Gray Ghost: The only welders hat I remember was the helmet with the shield on the face. Of course that was like 50 years ago. I would not put anything like that on because the FBI would probably pick me up and question me about the mother ship and what planet am I from. It really is none of there business.
I have not been a fan of the over the ear headphones. I have always favored the on the ear type. Much cooler. I have a Detectorpro Wader and it has the over the ears phones and the sweat just drips off my head. My hat is soaked. But the new hat drys quickly and is cool, very light and does a good job of keeping the burning sun off my head and back of my neck. I am thinking about getting the Black widow phones for my other detector. You can really hear those weak signals. I am beginning to think it is worth the sweat to get those little weak guys. Am planning a post on that today. Thanks for reading.Z

I use the "Dr. Shade" long billed cap. It is really light and the part that shades your neck stores in the cap when you don't want it. It also has a chin strap in case your in a boat or on a cycle and dont want it flying off. i would HIGHLY recommend this cap. I love mine.
Idaho PRB

Idaho PRB you are a very intelligent man. It is amazing how light and cool those guys are. They dry very quickly too. Mine has a clasp on the back so if it blows off you can have the clasp hooked on to your shirt. I kind of like yours better. Thanks...Z

Hey Zeekeys, I was wondering where you found those hats? I've googled them but can't find anything like that by columbia. I did find the Dr. Shade hats those look interesting too would like to check out both though.

Thanks,
Gary

Mach2 are you related to the razor? lol...
I got the hat at Cabela's. It is a fishing hat. I am going to put the url but I don't think it will work here on FM. It is called columbia tamiami chachalot hat. Have no idea what it means? I am sure it is some goofy name some ad man picked out to sell it. Here is the web...Z
