Wish list for the gt .. What would you like to see ?:hot:

Here is just a question for all of you of the " GT " persuasion ...
What would the FUTURE GT have improved or different ?
Or what would you ask minelab for to improve ?

Here is my option i think i would ask for ...

A trigger pinpoint ( remote ) switch that was factory , instead of me MODIFYING every sovereign i own .

What about you ?
A new meter ?
Maybe an advanced VDI meter like V3i ?
Now that would be killer .

I have another wish that i will post ... How about ALL MINELAB or COILTEK coils be UNIVERSAL ?
Awesome !

:minelab:

when you swipe a target, the threshold will go back to normal .........having a switch for that, so the operator has the choice....... threshold response switch on/off

I am thinking of an improved battery system ... Those rechargeable packs are expensive .... Yikes !

I agree with the remote pinpoint switch and a decent meter.
Waterproofing would be nice, but then we would probably have to give up
the flexibility using various headphones and coils. nice thought tho.

I don't understand why they stopped manufacturing the 180 meter, BRING IT BACK! Oh yes, and a pinpoint trigger would be nice! :)

I was thinking of a new style of meter , maybe like the old style spectragraph with bars and a simple condensed number vdi range , instead of that STUPID 550 meter and the 180 meter .
Seriously , do we really need such a broad number system to memorize about targets .
How about iron - negative number
Foil locked below 20 ,
Nickel at 50-55
Penny at 70-77
Dime at 80-82
Quarter and large silver 85-99
Gold at 60-66

And damn pulltabs at a regular 40-45
Bottlecaps 56-59

I am sure a smaller numerical scale is possible and like conductive targets can be grouped tighter.

Food for thought .... When the 180 mod or dti meter was created ... Why not have made it a 100 !

Hmmmmmmm

I think the idea was a half circle, kinda like a lot of the earlier meters before they went digital. iron on full left, silver far right.

Im not a fan of pitch hold either, that would be a good idea.

I would like to see the whole unit done in digital, kinda like the Xterra, easier to hang around the neck when wading and lighter weight.

I suspect you may have a fisher or whites hid in the closet. It's ok, there are others here to.

I like the 180 resolution myself. The Sovereign is unique in that Minelab has expanded the low and mid range all the way up to copper penny target values on this machine. This makes it very possible to split hairs on targets and avoid pull tabs. I don't think there is any other machine on the market with such high resolution on the conductivity of targets. Even the Etrac has a limited conductivity range which is much lower than other machines on the market.

I'd like to see the discrimination dial changed so that you could click it below the normal range and accept Iron in discrimination mode. I've always been one to use no discrimination as I like to hear the iron to get a feel for the site. Still, the Iron Mask ON does a good job of finding coins mixed in with iron. Better for me than machines using no iron discrimination at all. It seems unique in that Iron Mask ON seems to do it's best to sound off to a coin being masked by iron.

I modded my GT to use a remote PP switch but it sure would be nice if they came that way from the factory. I have no complaints about the battery system it uses. Seems fine to me. I also built a custom shaft and am running a lipo battery which makes my machine (from memory) about a pound and a half lighter than stock. Now it's probably as light or lighter than any Whites I ever used. There is no reason for such a heavy shaft or arm cup. They should make them lighter from the factory and use a carbon fiber lower shaft. I'm using a Whites tall man carbon fiber shaft for my lower shaft on my GT and a lighter grade aluminum than stock for the upper shaft. I'm also using a Whites arm cup which is much lighter than the stock GT arm cup.

Some people hip or chest mount the box to make it lighter but I found when doing that that I no longer had a counter balance to the coil so it made my arm tired just as quick.

aluminum mask setting as well as iron mask......i realise thats asking alot but i believe the first manufacturer that figures out how to block aluminum and still let copper, silver and gold sound off will corner the market....oh well, thats my fantasy ......

For my Minelab Excal there is a battery pack that you can replaceable batteries in. I think they are D or C battereis. A friend of mine has one. I'm not sure if they are available for the Sovereign. I would think so though, because I have been told that my Sov and Excal are pretty much the same machine. Just Excal is waterproof.

In Discrimination mode: zero discrimination and multitone id.

I want the same.
if it could be true.
