Wireless power level

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
I went hunting with a couple of club members with V3's yesterday and since we now have 5 users in our club with V's, I did some testing with the headphones. (We have a big club hunt coming up this weekend too so I knew the question will come up.) Although we have many channels to select from, I found that just reducing the power level from 7 to 1 is all that you need to do in most cases to avoid interference. With the power level at 7, I could hear the other guys a hundred feet away, or more, and although that worked great there was really no need for that much transmitting power. With the power level set on one, the headphones still worked fine up to about 10 feet away which is plenty. I don't know why White's would want to use that much power any way, it has to use the battery faster.

I might suggest going to the common program and pick your own headphone channel and then set the power level to one.

Doggone it Larry, by the time I get my own V3 you'll already have answered almost(yeah should say all) all my questions. Hey MAN you are the most and I really appreciate it. Nancy you don't have to find any gold, you've already got him at home. Your it DUDE. Thanks to Carl, Bob and all you others too. HH to ALL.

We did measurements of battery current vs transmit power level and found almost no difference between 1 & 7, so we set it conservatively.

Carl,
I believe you when you say it makes almost no difference in battery life but on the videos when it talks about the power level, He states that a higher level will decrease battery life.....

If I'm not mistaken, a conservative setting would be a 1or 2 since wide open is 7 as all programs are set at.
