Wireless on Compadre

I was wondering if any of you have tried the Deteknix wireless adapter on the Compadre yet? If so, what do you think?

I haven't but I've heard great things about the deteknix wireless modules.
Do you mean the ones with the headphones or the ones where you use your own headphones?

Also if youre shopping around, the Garrett z lynk have gotten great reviews and have alot longer battery life.

Just curious. I just ordered a Tesoro and a set of headphones and have been looking around at other items.
I've only read about the deteknix models. Might be something I'd try down the road sometime. Looks like you have quite a collection of Tesoro detectors.
I'm slowly getting back into detecting after a 30 year absence. Finally got the kids educated and married and moved out. Now it's my wife's turn and mine.
I'm an energy consultant so I'm in the field a lot but not full-time. It allows me time to use a metal detector. I'm officially retired, sort-of.

Oh ok cool.
Yeah the Garrett z-lynk is new, but offers same tech but with a 20+ battery life each module opposed to the 8 for the deteknix.
Maybe if you go over to the Garrett forum and post a thread asking for a comparison of the two from people who have the Garrett z-lynk. It's the one I have my eyes on!!

I do occasionally use a set of Deteknix wireless headphones but have never used them on my Compadre,so cannot give a true verdict on what they are like, the main reason i use them 'occasionally' is not the fact that they are no good its the total running time of between 6-8 hours, during the summer and infact the winter i can be out for 12+ hours so a possible short fall on battery power, they suggest you could top them up during say a coffee break in your car etc,but more than often i dont go back as all i am interested in is getting maximum detecting time in.So that is the biggest problem the battery life.

Although i do have Compadre which does have the coil conversion which allows me a little extra flexibility by using other coils rather than being hardwired, but i just dont use it as a detector,if i am honest it just does not suit my detecting scenarios which is usually deep ploughed or pasture sites, but what i do do with the Compadre is use the 4'' coil on it and use it as a pinpointer probe when deep relic/hoard hunting and in situations like that it earns its keep,as it offers better depth than any normal pinpointer but also offers full discrimination.

If i was to suggest a setup like you are asking for advice for then my suggestion would be the Garrett one they work exactly the same freq and set up but the winning trump card is that all important battery life between 20-30 hours, that is for me the decision maker.

After talking with Rusty at Garrett I went ahead and ordered the wireless set-up for the Tesoro. He says in testing they actually get about a 40 foot range.
So it would be perfect for what I have in mind with my wife. Plus he indicated it could be adapted to allow for the use of two sets of headphones. It will be interesting
to try.
