Wireless module

I took the CTX out for the first time yesterday and when preparing to detect the wireless module would not pair with the CTX. I enabled wireless, clicked connect and pressed the pairing button. I would get a red/yellow flashing light and after 5 seconds or more it would not connect (I got the connect fail). I tried a few different channels but nothing. I wanted to detect and not spend time trying to work out the problem so I plugged my headphones directly into the CTX/module and I received faint sounds from my headphones and yet the external speaker was sounding. Had I done something wrong? So, I detected with the external speaker and , well people weren't to happy with me so I tried again to pair the two. I had to go through most of the channels until one finally connected. I don't believe I should have had to do this.
I went to youtube today to get any info on the module/pairing but it seems I did ever thing correct. I took off the module today to look at it, as any of would do, but of course I saw nothing wrong. Also, isn't there suppose to be some screw/plug for water hunting on the underside of the module? Anyhow, any ideas? I called Minelab this morning and got an answering message.

I recently had to "re pair" my wireless and the first time thru had same issue but the 2nd try I remembered that once I got the module in pairing mode and ctx on a channel I had to push the button on the ctx once more, if you don't do that it will just act like its trying to pair up but fails. Not sure from your post if you did that the other times or not but it took me a couple tryst the first time too.

Yea i paired mine up when i first got it and things were good and then i needed to do a reset. After doing the reset i forgot to pair the module and headphones again. Drove over about 40 miles to a location to hunt and quickly realized that i had forgot to pair them up again. Well without the manual i almost never got the sequence right(age is working on more than just the body) but finally got it right and life was good again.
That wireless stuff wil spoil you for sure.

Not sure why you did not get the sound thru your headphones once pluged into the machine. I know that if i plug mine in i have to make sure that they are pluged in completly. My plug goes in part of the way and then basically stops to normal presure and i have to push a little harder and then they go a little further and they work fine other than i still have audio on the speaker.

Thinking about getting a set of theCTX Sunray Golds. I understand they have a little longer cord so if i need/want to use them without the module i can hopefully be able to stand up with the detector still on the ground. I'm 6' tall so not sure.

I spoke to John at Minelab and we tried a factory reset 3-4 times but would not reset itself. He believes possibly there is a problem with the control unit and or touch pad so it's going to Minelab. Thanks for the responses.

To get sound back through the headphones you would have to go to the options menu and click off the wireless enable. Once it has been enabled it expects to generate the sound to the WM-10 if anything is plugged in.

Today, the stock headphones worked when I plugged them into the unit without turning off wireless. It was my killer bee's that didn't cut the external speaker, yesterday.

Also, I have heard people refer to the headphone module as the wireless module. I was told the wireless module is the separate box that the headphones plug into. The part that is attached to the machine is the headphone adapter not wireless module. I need a beer.

Bell-Two -that makes sense. Thanks thats good to know.
The time that i did use my headphones witout the module and had to make sure they were pluged in all the way was when i left the module at home. I guess because it was not within reach of the machines signal it acted as if it was not enabled. Best i can figure anyway.

The only time I ever get headphones that are faint is when I don't have it plugged in all the way happens all the time , I plug it in and hardly any sound then I look at it and it's not in all the way .lol .sube

If your getting audio / sounds from the speaker in the CTX when you have the headphones (non Minelab brand) plugged in the top of the detector (not the wireless module), it means that your headphones are not wired correctly to disable the internal speaker. There is a post on this issue here someplace and details on Minelabs website on how the plug is wired to turn off the internal speaker.

This is my second CTX and the first had no problems with my Killer B's nor with the wireless module.

I did once have a problem pairing the WM10 to the ctx , my cure was to reset the module using a pin on the small hole on the front of the WM 10 , there is a tiny reset switch , look at the WM 10 with speaker facing you and look at the first hole bottom left , count up 2 "holes" and you see a little horizontal line pointing towards the reset switch.

In the lower left side of .module you will see a 1 next to one of the small holes, this is the reset button. take a paper clip and insert into hole, press down and hold it until green lite comes on. Then press connect on
ctx3030. you may have to try different channels.
